week they did totem poles.

else.

This was a quick and enjoyable lesson. The students are very creative!.

Great ideas Jo. The Indigenous picture was perfect. It was clear and
colourful. The
brainstorm session about the symbols the students could see was
effective and engaging.
I am pleased you gave each student their own picture with a cheat
sheet. Considering you
only had 30 mins the students achieved well. I am looking forward to the
next few
sessions.

DETAILED PLAN lesson two starting to paint

INTRODUCTION
Connecting, Engaging and Modelling
In this lesson students will
start creating their own dot
painting.
Tuning in I would love to
read them a book.

Students will start working on


their dot paintings. This
should take at least two
lessons I would suspect.

Then I will recap what I


expect from the students.
They will choose an animal
from printouts that I will
give them. Today they will
be expected to fill in the
animal (tomorrow they will
be expected to do outside
the animal). I want to see
lots of colour and for them
to be very careful and neat.
Dot painting is not a rushed
style, it needs care and
consideration.

I would love for the students
to be able to see what other
students have done. So for the
last 5-10 minutes of class, I
would like the students to
leave their work on their desk
and come to the floor. Once
on the floor I will ask them to
silently go walk around the
room, looking at what others
have done.

I was amazed at how quickly the students finished off their work. I
expected it to take so much longer! Thankfully they had extra work they
could continue with, because I had not planned a back up if they finished
early.

Excellent preparation for this lesson.
I like how you had the pictures up on the little whiteboard for the
students to refer too.
Remember to write up the goal for the lesson even if it is just a painting
one or finishing off lesson.
I like the outlines you selected for the students to paint and the fact that
they had to do pencil/grey lead on them first before they painted.
Some students did not pay attention and painted instead of dotting but
overall a great lesson and all students completed their paintings.
This lesson it was good you had story settings from earlier to complete
however in future always have extra sheets/ideas for early finishers or if
the activity is shorter than you think.
