Last Saturday, my family and I went jungle-trekking in a nature park. My father drove us there.

We
left the house at seven in the morning because we wanted to reach the place early. A sense of excitement
filled our hearts. It was our first time to the park.
An hour later, we arrived at our destinations We checked in at the registration counter, We were
given a map of the nature park which we studied carefully. My father asked for directions to the river. He
also requested for a guide to take us on the nature park trail.
We were told that the guide would be with us shortly Just then, an orang asli man walked up.
Smiling broadly he introduced himself as Atan and shook our hands. He was very polite, helpful and
friendly. We checked our equipment to make sure that we had everything. Then we set out on the trek. It
was about 8.30 am by then.
A path led from the head office into the jungle. We followed Atan and walked between groves of
trees and clumps of bushes. As we walked further down the path, it became darker and the trees grew
closer together. While walking, we saw small animals such as squirrels and rabbits scurrying along the
path. Overhead, we saw birds flying high above the trees. The sounds of crickets and birds chirping filled
the air. The leaves rustled and the flowers danced in the gentle breeze.
It was a long walk to the river. Sometimes, we stopped to catch our breath. Soon, we reached the
river. The sight of the river sparkling in the sunlight made our hearts leapt with joy. Feeling hot and
exhausted from the trek, we changed into our swimming costumes and jumped into the river. The water
was cool and refreshing. We felt relaxed from the swim. The water managed to ease the tension from our
muscles. After that, we had a picnic by the river bank. Then we rested for a while,
At 2.00 p.m., we decided to hike back to the park entrance. Atan led us back quickly through a short
cut. It was still a long walk back. We reached the entrance about an hour later. By then, my legs almost
gave out on me. I wanted to collapse from the exhaustion. We had tea at the rest house.
On the drive home, everyone was tired but happy. I was overcome by exhaustion and dozed off.
The trek was an unforgettable experience which my family and I enjoyed. We hope to go on another jungle
trek soon.
