Though Christine says that it was
tough to find authors that first
year, since then the annual event
has doubled in size and has featured such authors as Wally Lamb,
Emmy-winning WFSB newscaster
Kara Sundlun, former state Sen.
Donald E. Williams, Norwich
Magazines Zachary Lamothe,
and noted Connecticut Civil War
Historian Matthew Warshauer
of Central Connecticut State
University. Attendance has also
increased from an average of six
to 12 attendees that first year to
close to 25 participants, with some
author talks garnering almost 100
people in attendance.
With 24 Eastern Connecticut
libraries participating in this years
CAT, the event entered its eigth
year when the Janet Carlson Calvert Library in Franklin presented
a talk by Connecticut native and
New England moonshiner Adam
von Gootkin, author of Living
Proof: Onyx Moonshines Journey
to Revive the American Spirit.
Though some events have
passed, there are still 14 more
chances to follow the trail to a
great author event, including the
Sept. 15 trail finale at Mohegan
Sun. If you didnt get the chance
to catch them earlier, many of
the authors from the trail will be
at the finale. This years featured speaker is Kristan Higgins
(kristanhiggins.com), bestselling author of more than a dozen
novels and two-time winner of
the Romance Writers of America
RITA Award.
