Activity 1:
Warm Up

1.1 Pre-Stage: Review 3rd conditional briefly

1.2. During Stage:Have students think of situations in


which they can use the 3rd conditional for their
presentations they will need to include this for
their final presentations
Share situations on the board, come up with sentences so that they
can use them
1.2 Post-Stage: share some sentences, error correction as a class.
Activity 2:
Shark Tank

2.1 Pre-Stage: Hand out papers with information that they will
need for their presentation. Note that they need to bring an article
to class next week so that they can get info to help them.
Review, ask where they can get this info
2.2. During Stage: Play the Shark Tank video on YouTube. 1st
listen: have students circle which pieces of the presentation
requirements that the presenters included in their pitch
2nd listen: have students comment on things that they think they
did that were very professional, or did really well that they would
like to include
2.3 Post-Stage: Note that these are things that they will need to
include for their presentation.

Vocabulary

3.1 Pre-Stage: Have students look at p. 32 in books (new Unit 4,


about Marketing! To help w/presentation)

Have students think about logos/slogans, and what they know


about them.
3.2. During Stage: Have students look at the vocab on p. 33, then
try to guess the meaning w/a partner.
Look specifically at question 8 this is especially
true in the Bay Area (we like to get things that are
greener) think of some examples? (Tesla, etc.)
What different ideas are converging with Tesla cars?
3.3 Post-Stage: Read sample sentences, and have them fill in the
blanks:
1. The new car I bought was ___ to be fuel efficient,
or my money back! (guaranteed)
2. I feel like Donald Trump ____ racism and prejudice
in America. (promotes)
3. New York City is definitely not a _____ city;
everyone is different. (homogenous)
4. I think fashion and the environment have been
______ lately with the Tesla. (converging)
5. Though some ads use ____ messages to make
people want the product, some ads use pictures instead.

Activity 4:
Time to work
in groups

4.1 Pre-Stage: Have students think about the questions that are on
the sheet and start dividing them up, thinking about what they can
all incorporate, etc.
4.2. During Stage: I go around and facilitate while students have
questions
4.3 Post-Stage: Remind students of Presentation Due Date.
