ACE'*

Advanced Cement Evaluation

New Analysis Method Takes fhe Guesswork

Afi af Squeeze Decisions

Halliburton's new Advanced Cement Evaluation

method gives you quick, accurate infonnation onyour
cement bond, even when using foamed cecrents" And it
works with standard loggrng tools (inctruding CA$T-V)
and procedwes.
Traditional cement evaluation using cennent-bond4og
(CBL) tools and any Ultrasonic tool has severc lirnitations when used to evaluate foamed cements. FoanTed
cement impedance values can be less than those of
annular fluids, such as mud or water. Conventional
interpretation of this data may mislead you into thinking the cement bond is inadequate, and cause yotl to
order expensive - and completely unnecessary remedial cementing.

ACE* is a new method of intelpreting the CEL and

Ultrasonic data you're already capturing. It will give
you clear answers to your most urgent questions:

.
r

How good is my zonal isolation?

Do I need a squeeze job?

Same Data, Better Answers

Compare the two .uuwer products shown here. They
both come from the same data - the kind of data your
loggtng procedures are producing now'
When conventional interpretation rnethods are used
with lightweight cements, both the waveforrn and tlrc
impedance displays are misleading. Looking at the
conventionally-interpreted data would cause you to
doubt the cement bond.
ACE reinterprets the same data to yield its distinctive
answer product. Both the waveforrn and tl'le impedance
data fromACE accurately show a satisfactory cernent
bond. You can tell at a glance this well needs no
remedial cementing.

ACE

Conventional interpretation methods can mislead you about the quality

of your cementing job and cause you to order an expensive and
unnecessary squeeze job, The ACE answer product reinterprcts the same
CBL and CAST-V data and produces a clear picture of water, cement,
and the cement bond.

ACE

-The Solution for AII Your Cement Evaluation Needs

Cement Bond Log Interpretation

.dCE yields its greatest benefit when the CBL and
Ultrasonic tools are combined. ACE will provide excel-

Ient results with either conventional or ultrasonic digital

data. The CBL wavefonn processing using ACE highlights the differences between bonde4 partially bonded
and free pipe. Standard interpretation of this CBL
indicated lack of cementbetween two casing strings.
ACE processing of the CBL waveform indicated collar
response from the outer casing string. Acoustic coupling
between the casing strings must be present to detect the
collar signal on the outer string.

flow ACE Works

These extraordinary results are the product of a new
tedrnique based on a statistical-variation process to

distinguish cement from flui4 even when both have the

same inpedance. Through this process, the impedance
activity level is calculated as a derivative. The resulting
derivative inage is used to distinguish cements from
fluids. In addition, Halliburton has developed new
bond-index curves and special log presentations to
make interpretation quick and unambiguous.
Advanced Cement Evaluation has been proven effective
on cemmting jobs in all parts of the world, on every
type of cement now in use. It is saving our customers
time and money by eliminating countless unnecessary
squeeze jobs. ACE is available now...only from Halliburton.

ACE

The CBL waveform indicaaes rninirnal cement banding. ACE pracessing

highligha the differences in the waveform, tlrus skowing the ouar set of
casing collars. This is only possible if there is a 6ood cement bond

betwen

the two casing strings.
