Interpersonal Communication Proposal

2
Overview

Interpersonal communication, steadily decreasing across the United States, is

communication in which one exchanges information with another face-to-face. Interpersonal
communication is decreasing due to many technological advances such as: computers, cell
phones, laptops, etc. This is a problem because it affects multiple areas of our lives such as jobs,
schools, and professional life. For example, one of the negative effects of interpersonal
communication is when one is discriminated against because of their name on an application.
Project Plan
During the Semester-Long Multimodal Inquiry Project we will be discussing the
importance of interpersonal communication. There will be a slideshow made on Microsoft
PowerPoint and a video will be incorporated to help explain our topic. We will incorporate our
everyday life experiences to help make our presentation more relatable. Research will be divided
up between the three of us relating to our three subtopics. Since there needs to be 10 outside
resources we all will be responsible for 3 outside resources and do one together.
Justification
Due to the technological advances, interpersonal communication is steadily decreasing.
Others would be interested on learning more about interpersonal communication because of the
negative impacts on society. The negative impacts include: catfishing, stereotyping, and
discrimination.
Roles and Responsibilities
Each individual in the group will abide by the roles and responsibilities she agreed with
while making this. Sarah will be researching catfishing and the effects of it on society. She also
will state how interpersonal communication is affected by this. Jaylaan will be researching social

media and the effects on society. She will discuss the different types of social media and how
interpersonal communication is affected by this. Jasmine will be discussing stereotyping and
discrimination. She will be discussing her real world experiences which she has encountered.
Everyone will be working together to tie everything together to our main topic: Interpersonal
Communication.
Timeline
Each individual will be responsible for submitting information in a proper timeframe.
This timeline will be spread out to have the final project ready to present a day or two before the
due date. The reasoning for the project to be ready at least a day before, is for us to have a day to
run through our presentation and know how we will present it.

Conclusion
The goal of this project is to hopefully provide our fellow classmates with more
information on a topic they did not know was as big of a problem as it is. Another one of our
goals is to state why interpersonal communication is decreasing and state a plan on how to get it
back on the rise again. Interpersonal communication affects everyones lives without them
knowing it.
