AC 3 Wave winding Single Layer

Draw a single layer Wave winding with 24 slots, 4pole, full pitch
1. Calculations
Slots = 24
Poles = 4
Slot pitch = 24/4 = 6
Slot angle = 180o/slot pitch = 180o/6 = 30o
Slot/pole/phase = 24/4/3 = 2
(This means that there are 2 Reds, 2 Blues, 2 Yellows under each pole)
Coil span = slot pitch slots shorted = 6-0 = 6
Assume RYB connection
Red starts from 1, by default
Yellow starts from 1+120/slot angle = 5
Blue starts from 1+240/slot angle = 9

3.1 Coil span is 6.

1+6 = 7.
Connect 1 and 7 at the top
7+6 = 13
Connect 7 and 13 at the bottom
13+6 = 19
Connect 13 and 19 at the top

19+6 = 25 (1) 19 to be connected to 1st conductor according to this result. But connecting 19 to 1 will close
the connection in itself, and there will be no beginning and end to the phase. Also, the other Red conductors
like 2, 8, 14, 20 will be idle.
So the 19th conductor will be connected to the next free Red conductor, that is, 2nd conductor, and the wave will
continue.
3.2 Complete the Red connections and place the arrows
a. Current flows up from RS to1, flows through other Red conductors till 19
b. The flow comes out of 19, connects to 2nd conductor instead of 1st, and completes the wave
c. The current comes down out of 20th conductor which is the last Red conductor, which is RF

Note: The arrow direction is according to the slot pitch. Slot pitch is 6, so first 6 have current in upward direction;
next 6 have downward direction, and so on

3.3 Yellow starts from 5th conductor. Its current flow is similar to Red

5+6 = 11
Connect 5 to 11 at the top
11+6 = 17
Connect 11 to 17 at the bottom
17+6 = 23
Connect 17 to 23 at the top
23+6 = 29 (5) According to this result, 23rd conductor must be connected to 5th conductor. But doing so will close
the loop in itself and there will be no connection with the outside. Also, 6, 12, 18, 24 will be idle. So, connect 23
to the next free Yellow conductor, that is, 6, and complete the wave
3.4 Place the arrows accordingly
a. Current flows up in 5th conductor, YS, and flows through the wave
b. At 23, it comes down. It cannot be connected to 5, connect to the next free one, the 6th conductor
c. The wave continues and ends at 24th conductor, YF

3.5 Blue starts from 9th conductor

Note that for Blue, in a RYB connection, current direction is opposite to the direction of the other two phases.

9+6 = 15
Connect 9 and 15 at the top
15+6 = 21
Connect 15 and 21 at the bottom
21+6 = 27 (3) Connect 21 and 3 at the top

3+6 = 9
But connecting 3 and 9 will close the connection into itself and there will be no start or end to the
phase, leaving 4, 10, 16, 22 idle. So connect 3 to the next free Blue conductor, 10, and continue the wave

The Blue phase starts at the 9th conductor, BS, and ends at the 4th conductor, BF.
The jump between 3 and 10 is to show that there is a jump from 3 to 10, instead of 3 to 9.
