Farm to Tap Connects Local Food and Healthy Watersheds
ATHENS, GA Caring for local watersheds and agriculture has never tasted so good. Farm to Tap combines the local food and watershed care movement with Athens unique culinary culture to bring the community sustainably sourced, delicious eats at the most hoppin Spring spot in town Terrapin Beer Co. Join us on Saturday, April 23 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.! Six talented chefs from Five Bar, Etienne Brasserie, Chops & Hops, White Tiger Gourmet and The World Famous will prepare tapas showcasing fresh produce grown by local family farms of Collective Harvest. King of Pops will be serving up their organic treats too! Tickets are limited and come in two options just eats ($10) or brewery tour plus eats ($20). Tour plus eats includes 36 oz. of Terrapin beer samples, a souvenir pint glass and six mouth-watering mini-tapas. Thats right six local chefs plus six pours means crisp arugula paired with Tangerine Lemon Hopsecutioner, succulent strawberries with chocolate peanut butter Liquid Bliss. The combinations are endless! While indulging in healthy creations, attendees can converse with a number of local organizations promoting watershed care and related initiatives. Farm to Tap is co-hosted by the folks at Collective Harvest, Athens Farmers Market, West Broad Farmers Market, Real Food UGA, UGA Office of Sustainability, Upper Oconee Watershed Network (UOWN) and Watershed UGA. The event concludes the week-long environmental event series, Earth Week, and immediately follows a community clean-up of the Middle Oconee River hosted earlier in the afternoon by the UGA Office of Sustainability, Watershed UGA, UOWN, Georgia River Network, Big Dogs on the River, the UGA Outdoor Recreation Center, and Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful.
