Solid Perfumes
Carrier Perfume
Soft (consistency of lip balm)
Petroleum jelly Premade lip balm bases
Medium (firm at room temperature, softens in your hand)
Coconut butter Mango butter Olive butter Shea butter Premade solid perfume bases
Hard (firm until heated)
Cocoa butter - usually has a mild cocoa fragrance Paraffin Beeswax Soy wax - melts at a
low temperature
If your carrier is soft, you will not need to melt it when you add your fragrance. If it is medium
or hard, you will need to heat it gently until it melts.
Solid perfumes are also pleasant to use and easy to make. A basic formula would use 80% of
your favorite light oil, 13% beeswax and 7% of your fragrance. Melt wax with oil, let cool, add
fragrance, blend well and pour into container. Lip balm containers make excellent containers for
this. If your results are too hard, add more oil or less beeswax; to soft, add less oil or more
beeswax; too strong, add less fragrance.
