Network Structure

Connect core switches, access switches and Hub with a star network in WKT and SSS. Single
mode or Multi mode optical fibres are used to connect all network switches. OSPF (Open Shortest
Path First) technology is established through the star network communication among each station.
In WKT, respectively connect two core switches to corresponding two core switches in SSS.
OSPF technology is established through the network communication between WKT and SSS stations.
Connect WKT two core switches to corresponding AUS two access switches. OSPF technology is
established through the network communication between WKT and AUS stations.
Connect WKT two core switches to corresponding DCN two firewalls. Static route technology is
establish through the network communication between ITDN and DCN, it will ensure the
communication of OA system in ventilation building of DCN network.
IRF (Intelligent Resilient Framework) technology is used by two core switches or access switches
in each station. Link aggregation technology is used between core switches and access switches or
between access switches and Hub, it will ensure the link redundancy of the whole network.
In MTR ITHQ, connect IMC server to HQ switch for network management function.

Power Options
A preinstalled AT-PWR4 power supply powers the AT-MCR12, eliminating the need for multiple
power connections. AT-MCR12 also offers an optional hot swappable power supply to eliminate
downtime on the network. The unit saves space in the wiring closet and minimizes the number of
power connections required. Single-unit media converters can be removed from the AT-MCR12 and
deployed individually in order to accommodate network modifications.
By incorporating a backplane with 12 different power entry modules integrated with the printed
circuit board, power is equally distributed among all media converters whether using one or two power
supplies.
Rack-mount Design
Designed with a simple mounting system, each individual media converter is plugged into the
back plane and secured with the included mounting rail.
The rack-mount chassis includes two status LEDs on the front panel indicating power status. The
top LED is titled PWR A and the bottom PWR B. The AT-PWR4 power supply in the back panel has
one LED for power. When a redundant power supply is installed, a second LED is visible.

3.2.6

ODF Distribution Frame

ODF is assembled in the ITDN cabinets, which is used in the connection between the backbone
switches and the adjacent backbone switches or between the media converter and another end of
the media converter. The height of the ODF is 1U, and the interface type is ST.

management topology figure every day. Review the alarm information of the alarm list, and estimate
whether present the interrupt of the channel or the fault of the switches.

4.4
4.4.1

Device Fault Diagnosis and Processing

Switches

The topology is displayed in window of the main interface in IMC network management system,
user can review the related information of the ITDN, including the model of the switches nameIP
address and connection link each station. When the fault of the switches is occurred, the alarm
information will be displayed in the network management server. All kinds of alarm information can
locate the fault and provide the guidance for subsequent troubleshooting. Common faults and
processing methods are as follows:

4.4.1.1 Interruption of Business port in switches

Fault phenomenon: The interface of the switches is prompted change from up to down in
the network management server, and the interface of the connected application device submit to the
interrupt of the communication. When the fault is occurred, then the switch change to orange in
topology. At the same time, an alarm information is reported in alarm list, figure 4-1 show the topology.
Figure 4-39 Interrupt of the Ethernet port of the switch
Problem analysis (solution): Review whether loose between the port of the switch and
application device by afresh disconnect and connect the UTP, review whether the UTP is fault
(replace the UTP). Review whether the application device is outage (maintenance the application).

4.4.1.2 Switch network port fault

Fault phenomenon: The topology display the connection link change from green to
bluethe switch change from green to orange, and the alarm information is prompted communication
failure in the network management server, figure 4-2 show the topology.
Figure 4-40 Communication interrupt between the switches
Problem analysis (solution): Review whether the optical pigtail is loose between the
switch and patch panel by afresh disconnect and connect the optical pigtail; review whether there is
the dust in the interface of the optical pigtail (wipe the interface of the optical fibre with alcohol cotton),
the optical pigtail is damaged (replace the optical pigtail or reconnect with the backup optical pigtail),
the quality problem of the optical channel between two switches by OTDR testersingle mode optical
source and optical dynamometer to measure, if the received light power under -17dBm standard of

4.4.1.3 Communication abnormal of the whole network

Fault phenomenon: When the fault is occurred, all switches change from green to red in
topology, all switches submit to communication abnormal in alarm list, figure 4-3 show the topology.
Figure 4-41 Abnormal network communication
Problem analysis (solution): Judge the communication by 4 schemes: 1. confirm whether the
communication state of the link is normal between the network management server and the switches,
review whether the operating state of the network management server, the connected ITHQ switch,
and the UTP between the network management server and switch is normal; 2. Confirm whether the
link is normal between WKT and AUS or AUS and IT headquarters networks, need to review whether
the operation of each switches and each communication link is normal; 3. Confirm whether the core
switch of WKT is fault; 4. If only the whole network of SSS is fault, confirm the communication link is
normal between WKT and SSS switches, and confirm the core switch of SSS is fault.

4.4.1.4 Power supply of the switch alarm

Fault phenomenon: One switch change from green to red in topology, the fault of the power
supply submit to the alarm list, figure 4-4 show the topology
Figure 4-42 power supply alarm
Problem analysis (solution): When the phenomenon is occurred, it can judge power
module of the switch is disconnect or the power module is fault, need to immediately review the power
supply and the hardware of the switch, if the power supply is normal and air-switch state is normal, it
can judge the hardware of the switch is fault, and please the contact manufacturer to repair.

4.4.2

Media Converter and Chassis Maintenance

4.4.2.1 Device Appearance Inspection

Inspect the appearance of the media converter and chassis is normal, whether all parts of the
media converter present breakage or the screw fastening. Whether the ventilation of the cubicle of the
network is normal, or whether the door and lock of the cubicle present breakage. Whether all kinds of
tag is complete, clear and correct.

4.4.2.2 Media Converter Working State Inspection

Whether the LEDs green flash of the PWR, FDX and LINK is normal in media converter.

4.4.2.3 Media Converter Chassis Working State Inspection

Whether the LEDs flash of the power (2) and power is normal in the front panel and back panel of
the media converter chassis.

4.4.2.4 Media Converter and Chassis Fault Processing

Fault phenomenon: The interface of the switches is prompted change from up to down in
the network management server, and the connected application device operation normal. When the
fault is occurred, then the switch change from green to orange in topology. At the same time, an alarm
information is reported in alarm list, figure 4-5 show the topology.
