I am a 4th year student doing B Tech + MS in Computer Science and Engineering from International
Institute of Information Technology.

My interests include Image processing, pattern recognition, Computer Vision and Machine Learning. I
also endeavor to work in challenging environments to enhance my technical and inter-personal skills.
Self-motivation, positive attitude towards life and team work has helped me face various challenges in

Video Transcription

o The project deals with designing a GUI which has a video player and text box. It
enables the user to write the description of video with as the video runs.

Implementation of Extendible Hashing
o Advisor: Dr. Kamal Karlapalem
o Abstract: This project done as part of Database Management Systems (DBMS) course
deals with the building of a hash system which treats a hash as a bit string, and uses a
prefix tree for bucket lookup.

A hand geometry based verification system
o Advisor: Anoop M Namboodiri
o Abstract: This explores the use of hand geometry as a measure of a person’s identity.
The system consists of an acquisition device that captures the top view and side view
of a user's right hand as he places it on the flat surface of the device. A snapshot of the
user's hand is taken for processing. A set of features have been identified that could
be used to represent a person's hand. These features include the lengths and widths of
the fingers at various locations.

Removing artifacts from an Image after JPEG compression using adaptive noise removal
o Advisor: Dr. Jayanti Jivaswamy
o Abstract : JPEG compression leaves an image with blocky artifacts. Removing those
artifacts was accomplished by first introducing Gaussian noise and then denoising it
using Principal Component Analysis(PCA).

Online Palmprint Identification:

o A biometric approach using palm print identification system. Under standard
constrained pose and lighting conditions of PolyU Palmprint Dataset, an accuracy of
99.2% was obtained using Gabor-line filters.

Hierarchical Identification of Palmprint using Line-based Hough Transform

o Advisor: Anoop M Namboodiri
o The Hough Transform (HT) is a powerful technique for line detection. Its main
advantage is that it is relatively unaffected by noise or gaps in lines. This work
 proposes a line-based Hough Transform method, which extracts global features for
coarse-level filtering in hierarchical palmprint identification system. The local
information extracted from position and orientation of individual line is used for
further fine level identification.

Segmentation of Cricket Video:
o Advisor: C.V. Jawahar
o Abstract: The project aimed at classifying cricket video based upon various classes like
1) bowler/batsmen/fielder 2) Four/Six/Wicket 3) Crowd detection 4) Advertisement.
Developed multiple minima OCR for character recognition in the video, used
histogram of gradient to identify crowd, trained face recognition for
bowler/batsmen/fielder detection. Team Size: 2

o This project aims at calculating SVM kernel Score over large trained datasets for
multiple kernel using CUDA

MKL for K-PCA based feature extraction (Undergoing)

o Abstract : The project aimed at developing a MKL scheme for K-PCA , so that the
reduced feature can be efficiently classified using linear classifiers like SVM. We
wanted to show that kernelising before feature extraction rather than kernelising at
classification step can be cheaper in terms of time and and can give better efficiency .

o Abstract: This project aims at the efficient searching and retrieval in a large database.
