Main switch
Main switch power relay K52 (pin 88) and main switch control unit A28 (pin X1:1) are supplied with
power from the battery. The starter switch (pin S2) and switches S38/S39 are supplied with power
from the control unit (pin X2:1).
On early version vehicles, the tachograph is powered via a current limiter. On later version
vehicles, the tachograph is powered from K52 via fuse F91.

System on:
Putting the ignition key in the starter switch (pin S1) provides a signal to control unit (A28 pin
X2:2) to close relay K52. This also occurs when both switches S38 and S39 are closed. (Signal from
control unit X1:3 to K52 85B).
Note: When the ignition key is put into the starter switch it must be turned to the radio position or
pressed in before a signal is sent to the control unit.
Note: If the key is turned to the radio position and then back to the stop position the system will
be on until the key is removed from the starter switch (there is a 20 minute shut-off delay).

The relay closes and supplies the main fuses with power (however, the power supply to the starter
motor is not fused). Power is also supplied to the control unit (pin X1:5).
When the ignition key is turned to the radio position, relay K20 is activated. This is necessary for
the generator to start charging.

Normal shut-off (removing ignition key from the starter

switch):
When the ignition key is turned from the drive position to the radio/0 position, relay K20 is
deactivated. 20 minutes after the ignition key is removed from the starter switch a signal is
transmitted to the power relay (component K52) to open.
This occurs if the parking heater, ECS, hazard warning flashers or sidelights are not on. If any of
these functions are turned on, the main power is not cut-off until they are turned off. (Affects input
X2:6 via component V02 on control unit A28).

Emergency cut-off:
Emergency cut-off can be carried out using either the ADR S38 switch in the cab or the S39 switch
on the rear of the cab.
Relay K20 is deactivated to position 87A after 1-2 seconds, D+ is earthed and the alternator stops
charging. After a further 1 second relay K52 opens, cutting off all power except to the tachograph.

Resetting:
After an emergency cut-off the system is automatically reset when the ignition key is in the radio
position and the switches S38/S39 are closed.

Disconnecting the timer function:

For vehicles with equipment such as a fridge, it may be undesirable for the main current to be cut
20 minutes after the start key is removed from the ignition. This function can be disconnected by
bridging the connector (PW3 and PW4).
