Program Focus

NTIP includes mentoring programs, orientation to the

school and board and two mandatory performance
appraisals in the first year of teaching.

The population of this county is approximately 110

000, the average income is $80 000, the majority own
homes, speak English and were born in Ontario.
NTIP is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

Program Goals

Evaluation Questions

School boards are required to submit a NTIP final

report to the Ministry along with financial data to
ensure funding compliance. Ministry staff complete
site visits.
The goal of the program is to support the growth and
professional development of new teachers.

effect of participation in NTIP on professional
teaching practice.
Does participation in NTIP increase teacher selfefficacy and improve professional practice?
Are teachers who participate and complete NTIP
more competent at creating and maintaining an
effective learning environment for students?
Are there benefits for NTIP participating mentors?
What effect on professional practice does completing
NTIP have for more experienced teachers?
