Safety Information
Please note the following points when utilizing the instrument in order to protect the instrument, and
prevent instrument failure.
Regarding the OTF-320, when a laser source is input to the connector, the laser is output
from another connector. The laser beam may cause permanent damage to your sense
of sight if it comes in contact with your eyes. Therefore special attention and careful
manipulation must be taken when operating this instrument. When the unit is not in use,
be sure to use the protection cap (shown in the figure below).

Basic Operation
Before connecting an optical fiber, always clean the end face of the connector. In
addition, we recommend that the socket is also periodically cleaned (see Section 8-2). If
dirt is present on either the end face of the connector or the socket, the insertion loss will
be increased. In addition, when high optical powers are used there is the possibility that
the connectors may be damaged by scorching.
Before connecting the input light, check that the optical power does not exceed the
maximum specified level for the OTF-320. The maximum level is +25dBm. If the optical
input exceeds this limit, there is a risk of damage to the OTF-320s internal optical
elements.

Then lock the dial by using the knob for wavelength locking. Tuck and turn the knob clockwise for
wavelength locking; turn counter clockwise for wavelength unlocking.
