COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The course attempts to provide the students with the necessary knowledge about the meaning and
importance of the arts for them to appreciate better the works of art in the socio-cultural and historical
context.
The philosophy of beauty is included to help the students understand the process of aesthetic
enjoyment. The teacher will implement the subject/programs according to the needs of the students and gear
toward the course being taken. It is hoped that the students conceive deeper to the study of the arts; to look
after the meaning of mans creation, and enjoy the beauty of things.

III.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
1.

Discuss the different types of creative expressions (forms of art) and its socio-historical and cultural
context;

2.

Apply the principles of arts expression and appreciation in their teaching assignments;

3.

Provide some structures or methods in teaching and learning aesthetics;

4.

Recognize the different art expressions of the early people from the past to the present, and their
contribution to the society; and

5.

Cultivate values such as excellence, nationalism, self-confidence, humanism, and creativity, that can be
acquired through studying the humanities and that will enrich their lives as human beings.
