Carmelgiri Elephant Park. Take an elephant safari in this elephant park, which is a great
experience for kids as well as adults. Elephant safaris of upto 1 hour can be had here, and
you can even feed or bathe the elephants if you life. Dont be scared though, as the
elephants are tamed.
Now, you may fantasize about driving the Ferrari or the Lamborghini, or you may actually
drive one, but for this you will have to slow down the pace of your life while you consider
taking a bullock cart ride. You can choose to make your way through lush fields or even
take a bullock cart ride on the highway. Such are the colors of India. There is so much to
do here.

Consider taking a tour of the villages of India and try your hand at pottery making. Taking
clay and seeing it take interesting shapes right before your eyes has a rustic appeal which
is sure to give you happiness.

Get down and dirty and play a match of Kabaddi. Punjab is the best place to indulge in
this traditional Indian sport. Dont forget to apply loads of oil on your body and practice
saying Kabaddi Kabaddi without a pause in between. Even if you lose, you will love
getting soiled and feeling the adrenaline pumping through your veins.
If you ever come across a fair in India, dont forget to catch a session of wall of death.
Expert professionals ride a bike, or even cars on steeply inclined walls, doing all sorts of
crazy stunts. Amazement is what you will experience watching these hardcore professionals
in action. However, by no means should you try these activities at home.
98. Play Cricket on the Street - You get to make your own rules
Source: http://www.flickriver.com
Cricket is to India like what football is to Brazil. People do not need parks or stadiums to
play a game of cricket. All they need is an empty street corner and it is game on. Play a
game of street cricket in India, with its peculiar rules and dollops of excitement. Watch outone-tip(bounce)-one-hand is out!

Called a phuchka in Kolkata, Golgappa is one of the best Indian snacks for the evening.
Filled with tangy tamarind water, it gives you a burst of flavor as it pops in your mouth.
Make sure you pop in the whole golgappa at once. Thats the real fun part of having this
Indian delight.
Diwali is the Christmas of India. You could be in any part of India, but you cannot miss out
on the celebratory vibe on this festival. If you havent experienced this festival ever, you
must jot it down in your to-do list. You will love the loud decorations, the awesome food,
and the sky lighting up with fire crackers, all of which is typical of this festival.

Please do not publish wrong information about wildlife in India:
camouflaging power and are unable to hunt. White tiger cubs do not survive in
wild.
63. Interact with Vadi Tribe in Gujarat- Indias
Original Snake Charmers
These activities should not be encouraged as a
part of responsible eco tourism. There is no secret to what snake charmers do.
The reason the children play with snakes because the snakes fangs have been
taken out and the wound is stitched. The snakes later dies of infection after a
few weeks. And they are replaced by new victims. Thats why these snake
charmers are always on look out for new snakes. Snake charming is banned by
wildlife protection act.

Could have been a better list had it been unique! There are many things one would
do, if one does a few others also listed, for eg in Ladakh

janmashtami celebrations (which is also called vittla pindi..) and not that of
Mathura.

Too north-centric I say. How can you leave out Varkala (probably the most
picturesque and one of the trippiest beaches in India), a tour of Auroville, a trek
along the Gokarna coastline (Om, Half Moon beach et al), a bike ride around the
Kodai lake, an NH17 roadtrip from lets say Mahe to Goa along the Konkan coast
(crossing Bekal Fort (where the song Tu hi re was shot), the rocky sea face of
Tellicherry, Udupi, Karwar and finally land up in Goa. Sigh) and so on.

@a670678abd1f2f19ff6c7f8b1d3c0961:disqus Hi Mayank, Your list is purely amazing.
All the experiences you have mentioned are truly REAL India experiences and thats
the beauty of diverse India
. I would
want to believe that this is not North India centric post for reasons mentioned below.
I dont believe states above Southern Indian states are North India states.
Maharashta, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, sister states of North east and some other
states dont come into exact North India category. In fact, I made a conscious
attempt to balance across whole of India. Another reason is I tried to list these
things to do in the order from North to South. So, the first experience from South
India was obviously pretty late in the list
Having said that, I do take all your suggestions into consideration and will probably
try edit/ add on to the list. Thanks for adding them to the list.

28. Janmashtami in Mathura..
The picture shown against this point is the Janmashtami celebration at the Udupi Sri
Krishna temple and not in Mathura. The picture shows the golden chariot in which
the idol of Lord Sri Krishna is taken in a procession on the occasion of Sri Krishna
Janmashtami at Udupi.

A for the effort, but not very well organized. To be more useful to potential tourists,
it would be better to sort the list by region or activity (nature/wildlife, architecture,
cultural experience, history, etc). Also, if you want to be taken seriously, you cannot
put Taj Mahal as #1 on your offbeat india experience list
complaining about landmarks from your home state being left out, cool it a little.
India has 25+ states, we need a top 1001 list if we have to be all-inclusive

There are lot of other places and activities , specially from south are missing, like
tasting Biryani in one of the best hotels in Hyderabad, or visiting Thirumala to get
the view of Lord Venketeswara temple (receives highest amount from devotees from
any religion in world, surpassing Vatican ), etc.
