Art competitions were held as a part of the 1948 Summer


Olympics in London, Great Britain.
Medals were awarded in five categories:
architecture
literature
music
painting
sculpture
The art exhibition was held at the Victoria and Albert
Museum from 15 July to 14 August, and displayed works
of art from 27 different countries.
The literature competition attracted 44 entries, and the
music competition had 36 entries.

town planning the
gold medal was
awarded to Yrj
Lindegren1 from
Finland.
The winner of the

Finland with the work

the bronze was awarded to

Italy for the work of Inno
Olimpionico.

instrumental and
chamber the winner
was John Weinzweig from
Canada with his work of
Divertimenti for Solo
Flute and Strings.

In the competition of
choral and orchestral the
winner was Zbigniew
Turski from Poland with
his work of Olympic
Symphony.

In the cathegory of oils


and water colours the
winner was Alfred
Thomson from Great
Britain with his work of
London Amateur
Championships.
In the other cathegory
of engravings and
etchings the gold was
awarded to Albert
Decaris from France
for his work of The
Swimming Pool.

In the cathegory of statue


the winner was Gustaf
Nordahl from Sweden with
his work of Homage to Ling.
