Dear GYB Player and Parent,


Thank you for registering your daughter to the only All Girls Youth Basketball
League in Las Vegas. At GYBwe aim to develop basketball skills, sportsmanship
and self-esteem through our coaches, gym officials and organizers.Our coaches
willteach players of all positions and levels to play smart basketball, be coaches
on the court,and to become leaders on and off the court.
Player and Parent please review this handbook, as it is a crucial aspect of this
league. This handbook includes the rules of the game, league guidelines, code of
conduct and league information. Practice and Game times will be on the website.
Please make sure to check it on a weekly basis.
Please make sure that you are fully aware of the league information so that you
are informed. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact,
Anjee or Rodel.
We look forward to having great basketball season! Thank you again for your

League Philosophy
Girls Youth Basketball is solely made to focus on the growthof girls youth
basketball. Girls simply do notreceivethe same positive reinforcement in sports
as boys do. At GYBwe aim to develop basketball skills, sportsmanship and selfesteem through our coaches, gym officials and organizers.Our coaches
willteach players of all positions and levels to play smart basketball, be coaches
on the court,and to become leaders on and off the court.
Player Guidelines and Expectations
1. WORK hard accept only the best from themselves and each other every
day!
2. Work TOGETHER be positive with each other pick each other up
when needed!
3. Be ON TIME to practice on time means 15 minutes early!

4. OVERCOME adversity believe in themselves and the coaches even


when things are not going so well!
5. Make NO EXCUSES mistakes will be made; admit them, learn from
them, and try not to repeat them!
6. Be COACHABLE listen and learn from the coaches; apply what is
learned on the court!
7. Stay FOCUSED ignore outside distractions that can get in the way of
being successful!
8. Have CLASS be proud that you are representing the Girls Youth
Basketball organization.
And most importantly HAVE FUN!!!
RULES FOR PRACTICE
1. Punctuality - Be on time and be ready to practice.
2. Dress Code- Wear proper attire, athletic wear- shirt, shorts and
appropriate shoes
3. Players will take care of and respect all equipment.
4. Horseplay will not be tolerated before, during, or after practice - when you
come into the gym be ready to practice.
5. GYB is not responsible for lost or stolen equipment or personal
belongings. Please make sure that all valuables are secured in a safe
place while at practice.
6. Please contact your Coach regarding late arrivals or unable to attend
practice but remember PRACTICES ARE MANDATORY!
PLAYER and COACH Relationship
Both parenting and coaching can be very difficult. By establishing an
understanding between coaches and parents, both are better able to accept the
actions of the others and provide a more positive experience for everyone.
Parents have the right to know, and understand the expectations placed on them
and their child.
Parents are not allowed to approach the bench or court at any time during the
game unless there is an emergency. This will allow coaches to have the players
full attention during the game. If there is any other concerns please notify
Program Director.
CONSEQUENCES for parent disruption: 1) Warning 2) Asked to leave the gym

Officials and Referees


Referees assist in fair play during games by giving each team equal opportunities
within the limits of the rules of the game. Please cooperate with them in creating
and maintaining an environment in which participants have fun and learn good
sportsmanship.
If there are any major concerns about a referee please discuss them with the
program director.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct
Good sportsmanship is expected of both teams and officials during the game.
Taunting, abusive language, name-calling or any other acts of unsportsmanlike
conduct towards another player, coach, team or spectator is not tolerated at
GYB.
Please make sure that both teams line up for hand shakes after the game to
encourage good sportsmanship and positive attitudes.
Individual players with unsportsmanlike conduct will be asked to sit out one
quarter. If the issue reoccurs within the same game, that player may be asked to
leave the game. If the entire team displays unsportsmanlike conduct they may be
asked to forfeit the game and asked to leave the gym.
Weekly Practices
Practices are MANDATORY GYB will provide a full court at Silverado High
School, 1650 Silver Hawk Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
Game Day and Jerseys
Coaches will be responsible for attending each game. Teams must show up 10
minutes prior to game time and will be allowed to shoot around before their
game, if the court is available. In order for the game to start the team must have
a minimum of 4 players.
In an effort to have players participate in all games, if one team is lacking
players, the opposing team can provide extra players to ensure a complete
game, but the team lacking players will automatically have a loss regardless of
the outcome.
Each player must wear an official GYB jersey in order to play or a technical shot
will be provided to the opposing team for each player with no jersey.

Refund
100% of registration feesare refunded if the request is submitted to
info@GYBLV.com prior to the player skills assessment. A 50% refund of
registration fees is provided after the skills assessment and prior to the first
game. After the first game NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN.
End of Season Awards
The end of the season awards will be at the end of the tournament May 22nd,
2016.
