Grades:
While not everything we do in and outside of class will make it
in to the grade book, I will be analyzing ALL of your work to
determine
who needs additional help with a reading skill or
standard. If you wonder, Is this graded? the answer is,
YES! Everything we do will matter and will factor in to what
you learn and how quickly you master what you are learning,
which is what your grade isyour ability to show me what you
know about a skill or standard at that given time. Not completing or participating in the activity will
adversely affect understanding, which will reflect on the assignments that do get put in the grade
book.
Class Work Policies:

If a student is absent, they have two school days to complete the missed work without penalty.
This applies to in-class work as well as homework. I am always available after school to teach
what was missed. Tests and quizzes must be made up after school. Appointments must be
made for before school make-ups (because some days my three year-old doesnt like to
cooperate in the morning!!).
If a student is found cheating or plagiarizing, a zero will be given for the task. The student can
come up with an alternative way to demonstrate his/her understanding and knowledge on the
topic, but there will not be an opportunity to re-do the original task.
This is a reading class. The only way one can get improve and/or maintain their reading skills
is to practice reading. It is EXPECTED that the student read a book of their choice for no less
than 20 minutes each day. This will ensure success and timely completion of the Book Projects
each semester.
