Sutton Arena leisure centre is a sports centre for athletes, but also has facilities for
the general public such as a gym, fitness classes and activities for younger children
such as athletics coaching and basketball coaching.

Discover The World – various dates from July 2009 – April 2010

At Discover The World, I worked mainly in the marketing department, where I had to
contact various hotels to discover information in order to help improve the website. I
also created a few web pages for the website.

I have also worked as an operations executive, which involved the dispatch of post
and the dealing with all brochure requests. This involved sending out all the
brochures, as well as logging any brochure requests on the system.

Personal statement

As a recreation assistant I was able to gain numerous skills, such as working in a

team and as a senior member of the team, it was left to me to direct the group on
many tasks. By doing so, I was able manage a team of people in order to complete
whatever task was set. As a football coach, I was again able to show leadership
qualities in order to direct a group of players about the training session and matches.
As a receptionist, I was able to interact with the general public and by doing so,
managed to gain a lot of social skills and how to deal with customers who may be
disgruntled or angry. By being involved in all three roles, I have gained leadership
qualities as well as being able to work well in a team and also being able to interact
with the general public on a day to day basis.

I have also worked at Discover the World which is a travel agency, performing tasks
such as data inputting, which has enhanced my ICT skills.

Interests and achievements

I am a very keen footballer and once played for a semi-professional side. I also enjoy
many other sports such as Rugby, hockey and athletics, and have represented
Surrey at athletics. I believe myself to be a popular person and enjoy socialising with
friends. I am at Portsmouth University studying for a degree at the moment and am
in my first year. I believe that from playing in many team sports and being named
captain in a few of them also, I can work very successfully in a team, as well as being
able to direct them within any task set, and by working as a receptionist, I am able to
work with computers and retail.

Skills

I am able to work with computers and have a good understanding of Microsoft Office.
I believe myself to have good communication skills and be very good when dealing
with the public.
