Formyutopiansociety,wewillsupportourselveseconomicallyinacapitalistway.Our
economywillbebasedoffagriculture,manufacturing,andservicesinordertobecomewealthy
enoughtocreatethesocialprogramsIwanttoimplement.Agriculturally,wewillattemptto
producewhateverwecanandhopefullyproduceasurplus,whichwecanthenexporttoother
communitiesinordertomakeaprofit.Intermsofmanufacturing,wewillfocusmostofour
resourcesinthisdepartmentsothatwecancreatealotofgoodstoexport,growoureconomy,
andprovidegoodsforourcommunity.Intermsofservicebased,wewillonlyproduceenoughto
provideforourcommunityinordertosaveourresourcesandhumancapital.Allocatingour
resourcesefficientlywillgiveourcommunitythehighestamountofprosperitypossible.
Workwillbeassignedbasedonatest.Forexample,peoplewhoscorehighonthetest
willhavetheoptionstopursuecareersasengineers,doctors,andotherservicebasedjobsthat
involveahighereducation.Peoplewhoscorereallylowwillbeallowedtochoosefromjobslike
afactoryworkerorafarmer.Thejobwillbeassociatedwiththescoreonthetest,whichisthe
samelevelforeveryperson.Inorderforpeopletohaveequalopportunity,allstudentswillbe
providedwiththesameeducationfromthesameschoolforthesameamountoftime.Thescores
onthetestshoulddirectlycorrespondwithsomeonesintelligenceandworkethic,allowingfor

ustochoosefromthecreamofthecropforthemoredifficultjobswhilestillemployingpeople
whoscorelower.
Familyarrangementswouldbesimilartoamonogamous,twoparentsandkidsstructure
thatisinplacecurrently,buttheyareopentoanyreasonablestructuresthatareconceived
betweenanyconsentingadults.Forexample,Iamsuremanypeoplewillchoosethetraditional
withafather,mother,andchildren.However,ifagroupofconsentingadultsabovetheageof
eighteendecidethattheywanttobeinagroupmarriage,orformapolygamousmarriageof
somesort,theywouldbeopentodoso.Thekeycomponentoftheserelationshipsistheconsent
component.Gaymarriageswillalsobeallowedsothateveryonehasthesamerightsand
opportunities.
Asforacommitmentmechanism,Ibelievethatthegivingpeoplechoicesonwhatthey
wantwillmakethemwanttostay.Similartotheamishallowingfortheirkidstogoexperience
theworldinduringRumspringa,peoplewillhavechoicestojoinorleavethecommunity
whenevertheywant.Iftheyaregiventhechoicetostayorleave,thenthesepeoplewillbemore
likelytostaythenifIusedsomesortofreligiousmechanicorsocialguiltingtomakepeople
stay.However,Idoknowthatinthesociety,peoplewillprobablygetabigheadandlookatour
societyasamoresuccessfulthantherestoftheworld.Ifthishappens,thenpeoplewillprobably
notwanttoleavebecauseofthesocialstigmaattachedtotheoutsideworld.Thisinfluencethat
societyhasoverotherpeoplesactionsisprobablysomethingIcannotcontrol.
Rewardsandresourceswillbedistributedthroughthemarket,earnedbyhardworkand
ingenuitywhilestillbeingmonitoredbythegovernmentsothattherewardsdonotinfringeon
otherpeoplesabilitytoliveahappylife.Forexample,apersonwhodevelopsanewtechnology

thatbenefitspeopleinthecommunitywillreceiverewardsintheformofmoneyfrompeople
whopurchasethenewproduct.However,thegovernmenthastomakesurethispersonusestheir
rewardnotonlyonthemselves,butfortheotherpeopleinthecommunity,bycreatingmorejobs
forourgrowingpopulationorgivingbackthroughsocialprograms.Thehappierandbetteroff
therestofthecommunityis,thebetteroffeveryoneelsewillbe.Weareonlyasstrongasour
weakestlink.
Conflictwithinthecommunity,whilehopefullynotfrequent,willbedealtwithswiftly
accordingtoaconsistentrubric.Minoroffenceswillbepunishedbyfines,likeparkingtickets.
Anysortofcrimemoresubstantialmayfacejailtimeorexcommunication.Theideaisthatifa
personisdeemedtobeabletoberehabilitatedafteraterriblecrime,theyareputinjailfor
rehabilitation.SimilartohowcountrieslikeSwitzerlandandFinlandhandletheirprisons,thejail
willfocusonpsychologicalreasonsforcommittingcrimesinanattempttocurethepopulation
oftheirsupposeddisease.Anyonewhoisdeemedtobeunfitforrehabilitationwillbe
excommunicatedfromthesociety.Iftheyarefoundtobeadangertothemselvesandothers,they
willbeheldinprisonforlife.
Theutopiashouldcontinuetogrowandexpand,withmorepeoplejoiningeveryday.
However,thelargeritgets,themoreitwillhavetodealwithoutsideforcesthatmaywantto
disruptourwayoflife.Solookingintothefuture,buildingarocketshipandgoingintospaceto
liveinisolationoncethecommunitybecomeslargeandselfsustainingwouldbetheidealwayto
goaboutit,howeverpossiblethissituationmightbe.
