The Gods of the South:

The great nations that make up the Suljuk Caliphate constitute a vast melting pot of
cultures and races. The terrain of the southern continent ranges from endless sandy
deserts to dark, lush jungles. Such a varied land has spawned hundreds, if not
thousands, of gods throughout known history. There are countless monastic orders,
sects, sub-divisions of religions and if you wished to make a character from such a
nation you have free reign to make up your own small deity if it suits you.
For purposes of the game, the following are the major and widespread gods of Suljuk:
Jah, The Great Hyena: Domain - Light. Jah is depicted as a giant, man-like beast with the
head of a laughing hyena. Jah is said to chase the sun across the sky, laughing endlessly as
his beloved light burns away the darkness. He has special consideration on the summer
solstice when performers from around the world flock to the cities of Suljuk to bring laughter
and merriment from dawn until sunset.
Ansotep, The Biting Sand: Domain - Storm. Ansotep is often symbolized as a cyclone
atop a sand dune. Historically the god of sand storms, Ansotep's worship spread to
represent all storms when desert merchants took to the seas to seek trade in distant lands.
Cryos, The Crocodile: Domain - Life. The great crocodile is seen as a guardian of lifegiving rivers in the hotter, drier parts of the southern continent. Cryos is said to swish is great
scaled tale to break the dry seasons and ensure that the towns dependent on those precious
waters do not die out. Once a year, at the start of the rains, many towns pay respect to Cryos
by building large wicker crocodiles and sailing them down the rivers upon which they
depend.
Masood, The Great Djiin: Domain - Knowledge. Masood is also known as "The father of
the Djiin", referring to the mythic race of beings that can, supposedly, grant wishes to those
that can capture them. As such, he is associated with knowledge, magic and mystery.
Ancient scripture paints Masood as jealously hoarding the great secrets of the world amidst
a vast trove of golden scrolls that contain all the works of magic.
Los, The Shadown: Domain - Death. Los is often worshipped openly only when a great
and beloved leader dies. Los is not strictly the god of death but the guardian of the dead, her
religious rights animating the mummified servants of the deceased to defend their remains
and treasures for all time. Every day practice of Los' faith is seen as very taboo and usually
done behind closed doors. Sects of this faith almost always draw the attention of
necromancers who seek the ancient practices to further their research.

Caladin, The Desert Spear: Domain - War. Caladin began as a tradition among the
nomadic desert tribes where the mightiest warriors would compete in a tournament once a
decade to become "The Caladin", a position similar to a war chief. Eventually, an entity that
represented their warrior ethos claimed the title and is shown as figure in tribal robes
clutching a slender spear. Caladin is said to have claimed the title as his name after sending
his champion to slay a great dragon that dwelt beneath the desert sand and this story is
acted out during holy festivals. To those that follow Caladin, the spear is a symbol of faith
and considered the only weapon worthy of a true believer.
Maya, Green Mother: Domain - Nature. Maya's worshipers are many and varied, mostly
coming from the tribal races of the deepest jungles. Respect for the green places of the
earth and the beasts that dwell there is the central crux of her worship and places such as
deserts, tundra and other regions bare of greenery are thought to be the realms of sinners.
