Attendance, Late, and Make-up Work:
Regular attendance is crucial for success. Students are late when not in their seats
when the bell rings. If you know you will be absent, you may send your assignment
with a classmate or e-mail it to me BEFORE class begins. Late work will only be
accepted 1 day after the due date, and will only count for half credit (Getting some
credit is ALWAYS better than getting a Zero). After the 1 day period the late work
will not be accepted. Students with an excused absence will have the same
number of days to make up their work as days they were absent. Students with an
unexcused absence will then be placed on the late work criteria, or the student
can go to Homework Rescue to make up missed work. It is the students
responsibility to turn in makeup work. Projects or major grades assigned before a
students absence are still due on the date assigned.
Calculation Procedures:
Grades will be taken according to the following points:
Assignment
Tests and Projects

Quizzes/Daily Work/Homework

100%

Cheating/Plagiarism:
The Cheating and plagiarism policy outlined in the student handbook will be strictly
followed in this class. Students should do their best work on all assignments.
Cheating in any form will not be tolerated.

Class Rules and Procedures:

1. NO CELL PHONES: All cell phones should be either turned off or put on
silent before entering the classroom. Ignoring this rule could result in
detention. Exceptions to the rule will be at Mr. Schuttes discretion, and if the
technology helps the students learning process.
2. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS: This includes those given by administrators, staff,
substitute teachers and Mr. Schutte.
3. COME TO CLASS PREPARED WITH ALL REQUIRED MATERIAL: Always
assume that you need a pen, pencil, paper, and notebook despite any special
period. The schools tardy policy does apply to this class.
4. TURN IN YOUR ASSIGNMENTS ON TIME: It is your responsibility to keep
up with your work.
5. ALLOW STUDENTS TO LEARN AND TEACHERS TO TEACH: I will treat you
with respect and consideration and it is expected that you will treat peers and
adults in a courteous and respectful manner. Adopt an attitude of an adult
and of a scholar.
6. COMPLY WITH ALL SCHOOL RULES, REGULATIONS, AND POLICIES: It is
most important that you know the rules if you are expected to follow them.
Read your student handbook. Dress code, electronic devices, and all other
policies will be strictly enforced.
7. KEEP THE CLASSROOOM AND DESK CLEAN: Before leaving, check your
area. Pick up paper and return desk to the original place unless otherwise
instructed. Put trash in the trashcan by my desk.
8. TESTS AND QUIZZES: Tests and Quizzes will be given over material covered
in class, on homework assignments, and readings. It is the responsibility of
the student to review class material each night so that they are prepared for
the quiz.
9. HOMEWORK: Homework is assigned to reinforce or introduce major topics
throughout each unit. Not all homework assignments will be collected for a
grade; however, the material covered through the homework assignment
may be assessed via weekly quizzes and tests.
10.
NOTEBOOK: We will be using a class notebook. Every student is
required to be responsible for the maintaining and organization of their
notebook. Notebooks might not be graded but will be useful for studying and
staying organized in class.
11.PARTICIPATION: Everyone is expected to participate in class and group
discussions.
