How can we survive!

Q1. There are two clayey soils, one is a nature intact clay, the other is reconstituted clay. Both
of them have the same properties as follow:
1. Soil mineralogy,
2. Initial void ratio,
3. Initial stress state,
4. Testing stress path.
I. May they have the same response?
If not, what is the difference in the behavior b/ween an intact soil and the same soil in
reconstituted state!
II. Mineralogy is nough for defining mechanical properties of soil?
Q2. The yield surface of structured soil dependent or independent on soil structure, and stress
history! How is the that of reconstituted soil?
Q3. The hardening of soil is dependent or independent on plastic volumetric deformation
(dependent on the size change of yield surface)? How it is in destructuring of soil? The size
change of the YS depends on the stress path or not?
Q4. What is the effects of cementation?
Q5. How the elastic deformation depends on the value of stress, does it depend on stress
path? How soil loaded to the stress!
Q6. Plastic deformation independent or dependent on the stress path
Q7. Plastic volumetric deformation determined by change in size of YS, does it depend on
loading stress path? Is there any relationship between the size of YS and the plastic
volumetric deformation?
Q8. How many components of plastic deformation? How they are!
examination!
Interface elements were utilized at all structure-soil boundaries to provide for
possible slippage and separation, assuming strength equal to that of the soil (i.e.,
rough interface). The interface beyond the end of the plate in the soil was
extended to avoid the end of plate becoming fixed to the soil
c Bi be careful once dealing with the Interface element! There have been
many users facing this problem for sure.
Some primary points of "Soil Stiffness Modeling Issue"!!!
(Morrison et al., 2006) stated that modeling soil behavior using the MohrCoulomb model in PLAXIS was ineffective for SMSE Wall system. Repeated failure

of the modeled MSE wall was exhibited due to either premature soil failure
coupled with insufficient mobilization of geogrid reinforcement, or excessive
deformation, depending on the stiffness assigned to the soil. Especially, the
bilinear characterization of stress strain behavior (i,e., constant stiffness and
strength idealization) was considered inadequate for modeling the apparent
geogrid-soil interaction developed during construction. Subsequent
implementation of a hyperbolic stress-strain characterization for the soil, using
Hardening-Soil model in PLAXIS, succeeded in proving the necessary
improvement for this aspect of the analysis.!!!

What is the great challenge to GE!

"When sheared, loose soil will reduce in volume, but a dense soil will increase in volume"! In
other word, if corn decrease in volume ---> Loose, just leave it alone! Do not touch it!
If the volume increase--->dense. We shake it to make it large to make money!
What is the most important charateristic of soils? Which is also known as the fundamental
diferent from other materials!
Hassan AlKayyal I think the elastic-plastic-creep behavior of soil. Or maybe the
inability of soil to bear shear stresses
