Pre-AP Biology Syllabus 2016 - 2017

Pre-Biology MW or TTH and every other Friday 1, 2, 3, 5,6, 8 periods.
Tutoring Schedule:
Monday: 4:15pm:5:15
Tuesdays: 8:00am to 9:00 am & 4:15pm-5:15pm
Wednesdays: 4:15pm 5:15pm
Thursday: 8:00am to 9:00 am & 4:15pm-5:15pm
Friday: 8:00 am to 9:00 am

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This year in Biology, students will engage in the study of life. They will examine cell structure and function, ecology, natural
selection, evolution, genetics, heredity, and so much more!
At the end of this course, students will
o Know how to engage in a 21st Century world.
o Be able to critically think about the world around them.
o Understand that all of life is interconnected.

REQUIRED MATERIALS
To successfully complete this course, you will need
o Composition or Spiral notebook
o Scissors, glue and writing tool

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

General Classroom Rules and Procedures


Students are expected to participate. This course will be conducted in the laboratory 40% of the time. Students must comple
assignments and homework as necessary. Studying is very crucial to success in Pre-AP Biology. Students will also be expe
maintain their notebooks.
Grading Policies:
Students will receive a grade for all coursework assigned. The majority of assignments will be glued into the students intera
notebook. Make-up work: Students will have two days for every one day they were absent to make up all missing work. Late
and Re-tests will be assessed based on district policy.
Percentage Break down: Classwork: 40%
Tests: 25%
Projects: 20%
Six Weeks Test: 15%

Grading Scale:

A = 90 - 100 C = 70- 79
B = 80 - 89 F = 60 and Be
