Visual BASIC Programming
Course Overview
Visual BASIC is a dual enrolled college class that covers the first semester
of college programming. The class is an intensive, hands-on experience that
will thoroughly ground students in the fundamentals of programming.
Students will become versed in the visual method of programming with
emphasis on object-oriented programming, the use of controls and events,
decisions, and data management.
Major Course Objectives
Students will be able to:
Draw flowcharts for their created programs.
Create forms.
Manipulate properties of objects in forms.
Create numeric and string literal variable.
Create objects for data input and output.
Use relational and logical operations.
Create if and select case blocks.
Create sub and function procedures.
Use loops.
Create and use arrays.
Use sequential files.

Grading
Grading will be based upon successful performance on tests and successful completion
of programming assignments in class and at home.

Technology
In class use of a desktop computer will be used to complete programming assignments.

e-Backpack will be used to submit at home assignments.

Student Expectations (examples)


Students will be expected to submit programs in a timely manner. Late programs
will be penalized at the rate of 10% per day.
Students will be expected to have done the assigned readings and practice
programs for each night in order to finish any daily assignments.
All programs are individual work. Copying all or parts of anothers program is
considered plagiarism and will be dealt with as such.
All work missed due to absence from class is to be submitted the day of the
students return.
