Subject: RE: IS PICTURE BELOW THE actual DEVICE YOU ARE PROPOSING?

Brad Et Al:

The approved ‘plan’ was no doubt made by some expert either for or against BP/USCG which will be easily
verified in the multiple briefings to follow this National Disaster.  Right now the USCG is verifying each and
every item when before only perhaps BP with one of the big three were looking.  You have many
professionals thinking about the idea plus making suggestions like you and others are making with good
intentions.

As a State of Florida Certified Plumbing Contractor and Specialist Certified with Backflow Prevention
Assemblies I can tell you and the coast guard that what I see is a SUPER DANGER which is fooling everyone.
The bent section has much more pressure than you realize.  Turn on your hose bib alongside the house to
your 50 foot watering hose.  Put a kink in it then realize the flow is restricted and barely runs out under
pressure.  Pull the hose straight and see the pressure spike with super flow even at 55 PSI.  Now think of the
top of the BOP showing very little flow….think of cutting it off and then realize the super increase in gas, oil,
water flow which means there better be a super fit machined into the first long section which will slide down
over the standard BOP flange….super tight beveled then the seal will be made and you can continue up with
a full size 21 inch pipe out of the contraption but beware of necessity for that shutoff valve folks on top of
the unit.  You have time to machine a solid sealing tight seal cover called a sleeve then have a way to put in
threaded holes for super bolts to secure same in place.

My money would be on Cameron, the makers of the BOP, who would no doubt have a few items left in
warehouse which could be used in this matter.  The concern about flow of gas which can explode causing a
torch like IXTOC 1 plus oil which could obscure vision of ROV operators would have been solved in my own
mind but those Experts do not know me any more than they do you and others who post suggestions.

All can suggest anything and provide outstanding illustrations as you do but remember the Keep It Simple
may apply. If this were sitting on land one would and could perhaps use special super bolts through that tight
fitting cover bottom with cut threads to fasten the object securely to the heavy metal on the bottom flange.  I
still have not a clue as to how the single riser picture became the GE Riser with three pipes but so much for
pictures.  I sincerely believe the BOP Cameron people had female components above the flange which took
and sealed perfectly with the GE pipe section stripped of buoyancy materials on the first riser leg of 90 feet.
Talking about going to Cameron to get another, with extra bolts and nuts then placing that new one down
over the site has been ignored along with a shutoff valve after the male GE riser spaced through the BOP top
flange then shutoff then section of pipe with female flange taking up only 8 feet of space and allowing full
flow 21 inch to the surface has been thrown out as has the use of Branko R. Babic Counter Pressure Plug
with flow thru pipe, shutoff and female flange for GE 21 inch pipe allowing a check valve on hydraulic riser
line to keep the BOP with hydraulic.

Confusing to me is the entire 8 story BOP must have a space where new hydraulic fluid can be pumped from
the surface to allow the 8 story puppy to receive necessary pressure oil to CLOSE down the entire BOP.  The
Hail Mary Pass with one chance to keep the well in service, even reduced flow is apparently the only
motivation for this object they intend to use. The fact is the small ship or barge could handle easily the flow
of a 6 inch line like they put into the interior of the leak point away from the BOP and hid from the world the
bent riser close to the BOP.  Cutting away the extra pipe allowing same to fall is the highest priority right
now.  Pipe could fall and strike sections of the BOP while falling so this cannot happen. ROV can connect
wire with slip closure over the pipe, let crane move it once other ROV cuts with Chop Saw then crane can
swing pipe clear and lay it on the bottom.   Next would be visual on how much of riser is salvageable and if
really bent at flange the only way to get any relief is either get another flange with pipe from Cameron/GE
helping but a shutoff must be on same ready to set down over BOP second flange.  Each idea has merit but
only one will be carefully chosen and modified due to super pressure and super flow.

My bet would be Cameron/GE solutions are known and being withheld by whomever has the BOP manual.
Such was why we asked for the PDF of the manual and got nowhere !  There is a Plan B, Plan C, Plan D, and

5/30/2010

possibly a Plan E to allow external hookup of Hydraulic Pressure LINES to shut down that BOP right now if
they will let some old people Look at the Manual.   Remember, when all else fails LOOK AT THE
MANUFACTURERS MANUAL for some really brilliant person has an emergency plan sitting there ignored !
Really ignored in this situation !

Let the Admirals make the choices then BP will still not be off the hook nor will Cameron or GE.  They have
time until the potential Hurricane goes bye Cancun toward New Orleans and the oil really may get sucked up
in water spouts.  Me and my kids were in one spout off Clearwater Beach fishing pier.  All three of us held on
to the railings anchored in cement holding the fishing poles like idiots soaked instantly years ago.
Remember rain and oil are not good all across Florida nor are benzene and other gas products.  Stay safe
folks and use all the protective clothing and breathing equipment you can get!

PRAY !

This is SOOOOO friggin ridiculous. Well their plan is to have another dome with a 6 inch riser going topside. I say if they are going to cut the riser and put something on then make it a tight
seal like my device. http://www.wehdeinteractive.com/RetroFitBOP.html. the boring tool is no longer needed. This can securely affix to the riser flange, Flex joint, collet connector or
anything you can get a grip on. In the meantime I also devised a way to get a good seal on it. you can still have a 21 inch riser to a tanker if wanted or needed as in
http://www.wehdeinteractive.com/Deepwater/BestSolutionBypass.html
after this device is installed the Top Kill would be effective.
Without this the flow is too great to overcome with 2 3inch lines which is WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING ever since they said this is what they were going to do.  I don’t know what the hell is
wrong with these people.
Now that they cut the riser off there are many ways to make a secure connection with a valve to shut this off.
So here is the conspiracy theory is that if they don’t want this closed then there is more damage that we don’t know about. Most likely the well bore is shot.
Even If this is the case I can still think of ways to fix this and overcome some of these obstacles .
These guys have managed to botch this in SOOOOOO many friggin ways it makes your head spin.
But don’t forget “they have the best people in the world on this”.
There has been so many possible solutions to this problem that there are not many chances left.

Rear Admiral Landry:

Here is Brad Wehde’s idea which is similar to the one thought about by BP.  Difference is Brad intended to use a cutter to ream out the section where 21 inch riser came out then use a
compressing plug to stop the well totally killing the well itself.  That was why we recommended someone calling Cameron BOP manufactures immediately seeing if the riser connector with
flange could be replaced easily with another male flange then have the GE riser pipe modified to have Hydraulic Check Valve with connections to surface and Mud connections to surface
that would possibly turn a LOST BOP to a working unit full flow capability once the surface ship was ready to receive full flow in that flexible pipe or 90 foot sections of over 100 sections
different buoyancy levels with shutoff valves and check valves perhaps for hydraulic to the surface.

I stated earlier the USCG and Inspectors need to confirm ALL RIGS have check valves on their hydraulic lines and shutoff’s on the risers independent of the BOP items….for future
emergencies. America could not handle 10 rigs spewing gas and oil into Gulf nor could she handle 350 rigs spewing same.  No one could control that amount of GAS AND OIL let loose on
the Gulf as it would slowly circle the Globe and no one could have seen this…..OR DID THEY but turned away for bribes, women or parties not looking at the obvious need for external
shutoffs and check valves on those lines ?  New inspections and regulations are DUE immediately.

While you are doing those investigations verify no SPRINKLER SYSTEMS with salt water water washdown in place plus clothing reflective and old navy pilot vests inflated with bottles or
mouth are worn on fanny packs with waterproof led lights which last some 36 hours plus S.P.O.T. type SAT systems for relay of emergency.  I can see working people not being able to buy
a boat item which signals an emergency if overturned in water or triggered perhaps costing $1,000.00 or more but a $150 dollar S.P.O.T. for each person on deck in a shift which can be
handed to another worker ?  Not possible !

Branko R. Babic idea was to keep the well and stop the riser leaks but having check valve on Hydraulic plus shutoff valves above BOP and on connection riser pipe which would be GE
floating unit perhaps but also have a shutoff and check valves for hydraulic lines matched up with the BOP which with hydraulic may work again FULL FLOW.  Now that is indeed scary  to
think Mr. Babic invented this in 1991 during the Kuwait well disasters !  Where are those BOP PDF’s with emergency Plans written in for shutting down the flow if hydraulic fails….must
have Plan B, Plan C, Plan D.  Anyone reading these days?

Ralph,

This is sort of similar to this that I created. Although after I saw what the BOP looked like there it did not have the same structure but here is the link anyway.

this is the device? (below?) ....you said could be moved in and installed in 24 hours? or did i misunderstand your last reply?

Meaning? there is one of these already sitting there...? ready to be dropped?....

or...it can be quickly flown in?

let me know when you get a chance please....

Is one available right now? does he have one ready to go?

or what other reason, if it is fasted to solution...why would that be held up....for what? get that last piece.....why would it NOT work?
that's a way to evaluate it as well.... when you get a chance...

Best...

Importance: High

Steve:

Here is a link to a person who will indeed send your idea to BP and others.

His web site is:   http://www.alternativeresponsetechnology.com/oil_spill_ideas.html   Slick photos and Video on various items including
BOP’s.

He is the one who recommended the small BOP on top of the other BOP.  We never asked him about the GE riser attached to the top of a
BOP or was the riser really attached with those Hydraulic Oil and Mud Lines into a Flange.  We had suggested BP use another Flange with
Shutoff Valve on it male to go into the GE riser female perhaps on top of BOP then they could shut that puppy down by turning
with ROV the wheel .      Never got an answer from BP or anyone on the Manual for the Cameron BOP to see what could be done to shut it
down Plan B and Plan C or Plan E.

Eight story BOP must not be attached to another 21 inch riser…..or it would have been PULLED OVER when Deepwater Horizon had lost it’s
engines in runaway mode freezing up all motors on the rig.

That GAS in intakes made them all go bonkers as the ABANDON SHIP call was given and people left waterproof doors open until the rig
pulled itself sideways with pull on riser against BOP top.

Once the water was sucked into the compartments the attitude of the rig over on it’s side caused immediate sinking and twisting breaking

5/30/2010

every possible riser tube and I had asked about how much riser from GE was still at the top of the BOP with no answer from anyone.
Perhaps this gentleman can provide the facts on Deepwater Horizon you desire.

My concern is that 350 RIGS in Gulf Waters have similar risers without check valves on hydraulic lines to BOP on bottom plus missing
shutoff valves after BOP for such an emergency in the future PLUS the thickness of 21 inch riser being only .812 inches on wall exposed to
salt water for years would mean some will start blowing out later when sea water and any other problems flexing back and forth cause
weakening of these critical lines.   Too many failing or old well previously sealed for years may start blowing out including pushing out
steel casings in an Earthquake or Tsunami situation from an Earthquake.   Getting rather scary with thinking about those on rigs getting
hit with clouds of GAS killing everyone onboard then unit like Deepwater Horizon without super fan sprays for Salt Water water washdown
and special DOT or USCG reflective tapes sewn on all sleeves, wrists, neck, shoulder and waist plus pants with reflective tape as well as
all crew should be having to use a fannie pack with Navy Pilot inflatable small vest using AIR BOTTLES or blowing up with light and
S.P.O.T. GPS locator in zip lock bag that can be turned on telling USCG of the emergency and exact location in 20 seconds PLUS the led
lights can shine toward any flying craft overhead and helicopters can find these people even with ROV lights down 5,000 feet where 11
bodies are waiting to be picked up right now !

The BUSSED IN WORKERS near the President news conference were slick for CNN.  Too bad more is not being done to SKIM the oil all over
the GULF but my VACTOR TRUCK suction with barges and separators like Movie Star Kevin Costner centrifuge is acceptable as the EPA
and others have even put out literature on how to collect OIL from seawater using special mats on rollers with water going one way and
OIL being squeezed out in another.  Wide skimmers like dustpans skimming 12 inches deep is one thing to realize will work .  As a State
Certified Plumbing Contractor we would recommend DEEP WATER SUMP PUMPS PULLING OIL BLOBS WITH ROV UP TO THE TOP INTO
BARGES !   Even using deep submersible pumps found in 1000 foot wells pumping OIL up from deeper areas into barges.

Maybe you both can help get this word out before the BENZENE and other Gas is taken in at a Nuclear Power Plant INTAKE for motors
which caused explosion plus killed workers who did not have large OXYGEN TANKS WITH FULL FACE MASKS like should be worn by
workers out there in the Gulf Oil recovery for safety purposes…especially those near the sea top over the spill where that super dangerous
gas will rise, displace air and oxygen and risk the lives of ROV operators and CAPTAIN of the vessels.   No one is really addressing this
problem at sea or keeping helicopters UP WIND to avoid a possible explosion for a close picture or flick.

While we are waiting this weekend to see the BLACK OIL start pumping again through the BOP into the Gulf, I do hope they look at the
sealing ideas quickly once it starts again.  I would also look into pouring cement to keep the 8 story item on the ocean floor in any
emergency except Massive Earthquake !  My messages may stop as all of the suggestions have been given over and over to no avail and
we need to prepare for any Hurricane or Oil related emergency in Tampa Bay.  Thanks for sharing information all these days friends.
