Festival Day!
By Madison Richards

A few of you out there are avid Daily Double

readers, so youll probably be interested to
know that the Daily Double writers put out a
publication called The Best of the Daily Double
at the end of every session. Just pick one up at
the info booth on Festival Day (tomorrow!) it
contains the best articles, interviews, cartoons,
and quizzes of the session, plus some very
interesting, never-before-published longer
articles by the Period 6 Journalism Workshop
class investigating topics in-depth (their report
on the Trading Post is definitely worth a read).
Also available at the info booth, for free, is a
compilation of work from the creative writing
classes Poetry Plus, Short Stories, Get Reel,
and One-A-Day Write-amin. Pick one up its
a good read now, but a great read for during
the school year if you find yourself missing
CRCAP.

Festival Day is almost here! This can be a good thing and a

bad thing. It would probably be bad because it means that
this session is coming to an end, or for some that camp is
ending. Also, it means that you might not be able to see
some friends that you know until next year. But lets not
think about that. It is such a happy time, Festival Day. It
is when you get to perform or show what you have been
working on for the past four weeks. Overall, Festival Day
is REALLY fun and enjoyable. And for the new campers it
is not something you should be sad about, because it is like
nothing you have ever experienced before!

If a Beard Was On Claire

By Jayna Wolfe
Can you imagine a beard on the 3rd period
Daily Double CIT Claire? I cant but, I took
her hair and saw what it looks like. (If you are
Claire, do not read this next part.) It doesnt
look good. According to Rachel and Claire, it
looks wonderful. If you disagree with them,
and agree with me, whenever you pass them
say Like your beard actually, not really.
If you do like the beard, please say, Nice look,
I mean it. Thank you, you wont regret.

Passion for Fashion

By Katie Gorson
I love sewing and textiles. I learned to sew right as I learned
to walk and I bought my first sewing machine when I was
eight. Now Im thirteen, almost fourteen, and I still love
sewing. My favorite classes here are recycled fashions
and creative clothing. At the end of first period, as I leave
recycled fashions, I find myself being sad that I cant sew
anymore. As soon as I leave recycled fashions I start looking
forward to creative clothing at sixth period. I think about
my textile classes a lot. When I get home sometimes I draw
rough sketches of what I want the clothes to look like and
when I cant go to sleep I try to dream that Im making my
clothes or that Im on a runway wearing them. I always
have loved fashion, but until now I always thought of it
as a hobby. Fashion really is my passion. Now I cant stop
thinking about it, so when I grow up I want to involve in the
fashion industry somehow. I hope to be either a designer, a
model or a writer for a fashion magazine. Wish me luck!

Loch Ness Monster?
Alex Martiros
There has been a sighting of the Loch Ness
Monster in Alaska. A woman had her video
camera out and she filmed an animal similar to
the loch ness monster slithering through the lake!
Could it be a real Loch Ness Monster? I do not
know.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Universal

Studios, Orlando)
By Emily Sophis
Have you ever gone to Universal Studios to see the
Wizarding World of Harry Potter? Ive never been but
it looks really fun. Have you ever gone on the website?
The website shows you some of the stores (the outside
of the store) and what the Wizarding World of Harry
Potter looks like. If want to look more into the website
then go on your computer and type in this;google.com,
then type in what does the Universal Studio Theme
Park(Harry Potter) look like? and, then click on the
second site that comes up as The Wizarding World of
Harry Potter-Now Open at Universal Orlando. After
you click on the site, there is a map and you can click
on Hogwarts, Dragon Challenge, Hogsmeade, or
Flight of the Hippogrite. If you click on one of them
like Hogsmeade it will show you what Hogsmeade
looks like. Hogsmeade has a lot of stores and if you
click on a store sign it will show you what the store
has. Also Ive heard that when people go to Universal
Studio it feels like they are really in the Wizarding
World of Harry Potter!

Crazy Weather!
By Luke Martiros
Throughout the Midwest there has been an incredibly
hot heat wave. In Pawnee County, Oklahoma a
sidewalk had literally cracked open and lifted into
the air. The heat wave has caused much disturbance
to all of the people that have to live through it. At
one baseball game that was played between the
Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago Cubs, the
Phillies pitcher (Roy Halladay) needed to be taken out
of the game because of the heat. His jersey was soaked
with sweat and his face was beet red. Some parts of
the Midwest have reached highs of 115 degrees! I
am warning you though that the heat wave is coming
east. On festival day the temperature might reach 100
degrees! Also with the heat wave that is happening
there is a tornado watch until midnight in Minnesota
right now. Do you remember when Massachusetts
had that tornado watch on June second? It was very
scary for some people in Springfield. The weather has
been very bad for some people in the Midwest but
they are living through it.

Happy birthday Daniel Radcliffe

Red Sox Win in Fashion

By Luke Martiros

This Saturday (July 23, 2011), is Daniel Radcliffes

birthday. He will be turning 22, and what better way
to celebrate his birthday than with the premier of
the new Harry Potter movie. I just wanted to write
this to let everyone know. Happy birthday Daniel
Radcliffe!

The Boston red Sox played the Tampa Bay Rays

on July 17, 2011. The game was amazing and the
final turnout was 1-0, red sox. It was basically
a pitchers duel between Josh Beckett and Jeff
Niemann. Through eight innings for Beckett he
had six strikeouts and only allowed one hit. On
the other hand, Niemann had pitched eight innings
had ten strikeouts and had allowed two hits. Even
though Jeff Niemann had pitched an amazing
game, the Red Sox still managed to pull out the
win. They won after 16 innings of hard fought
baseball. The Red Sox are still ahead in their
division by one and a half lead on the horrible
New York Yankees. Go Sox!

Buttersnap Pretzels
Jayna Wolfe
I love buttersnap pretzels. They are so good. But you
have to eat a lot of them so they fill you up. They are
made with butter, and the other things that pretzels are
made with. They taste soooooooooooooooooooooo
good. Please try buttersnap pretzels, and they will
become your favorite food.

Japan Wins World Cup

By Andrew McGuire
On Sunday the last womens World Cup game
took place in Germany. The USA was against
Japan. We had a 1-point lead but then Japan started
squashing us and the penalty kicks really let them
take the lead. In the end we lost but Japan has had
a terrible year for their country (you better know
why) and at least they won the World Cup.

Today I saw the most horrifying page on the

internet (shortcut: http://goo.gl/aU3Um).
Obamas 2012 re-election campaign. I personally
am against Obama and am terrified about things
that may crash the economy even more (even
though it started failing before Obama went
into office) or other things. Maybe a division of
the US Marines or something will fail. It was
announced on April 4th and I think he is getting
too cocky because he has many months to torture
America before then. If anything, I hope McCain
is coming back for re-election.

Toddlers and Tiaras

By Naomi Forman-Katz and Elyse Tunkelrott

Q. What is your favorite color?

A. My favorite color is purple.

Toddlers and Tiaras is a show on TLC about young girls

performing in beauty pageants. Basically, its a ton of
little brats screaming for darker spray tans and more
sparkles. One girl swore at her mother for not getting
the right type of lollipop backstage. These girls are
sometimes as young as six months old, and they are
already getting their faces caked in makeup and wearing
fake white teeth. How much mascara can a two year old
wear? Apparently, more than you would have guessed.
The girls on this show are probably some of the most
rude, bratty, and obnoxious children on TV. Of course,
some of it is over-exaggerated, because its entertaining
to watch kids scream at their parents. From a very young
age, these pageant stars have been taught that being
pretty is the most important thing in life. And obviously,
theyre wrong. The most important thing in life is Nutella.
These girls really need to get with the program.

Q. Do you have any pets?

A. Yes, I have one fish.
Q. What is your favorite food?
A. Brownies
Q. Do you have any siblings?
A. Yes, I have one brother who is my twin.
Q. Who is your favorite singer?
A. Lady Gaga
Q. What is your favorite song?
A. Price Tag by Jessie J.
Thank you for learning all about Alex!

IMPOSSIBLE PUZZLES FOR YOUR SIBLINGS

By Katie Predella
Place a candy here.
tell

Tell your sibling that they can have a candy if they recite
the whole dictionary in two seconds starting right now.
Then say that you will try, and say whole dictionary.
Then eat the candy.
