Overview
The education career today is becoming a blessing or a curse
is an open ended question being raised these days. The whole
concept of education today is far apart from what it was
initially devised to be.
Today, one of our main focus in our lives is to get a good
education and have a sound career to lead a happy and content
life. And, undoubtedly, todays education system caters to our
needs of education and career very well. But, where is the
happiness and satisfaction?
Right from the childhood, it is fed into the minds of tiny
tots that the only thing that they should know is that they are
going to be a doctor, engineer, IAS and so on. Since beginning,
they are pressurised to outperform others of their age. Once kids
become old enough to enter a school, the foul play starts. They
need to pass a number of tests even to get admission in nursery
standard, because they are supposed to be in the best school. As
soon as, he is admitted to a school, he comes under the scanner
and is continuously evaluated on the basis of one parameter or
the other. All that matters is your marks, your grade, your CGPA.
Every parent wants to see their child at the top position. And
automatically, others are receded to lower positions and
suppressed. The child which is usually a stress buster and a
source of happiness for everyone else in the home and
surroundings, himself becomes tensed.
Conclusion
There is an increasing number of unemployment in the
Philippines, but still I do believe that teaching is the safest
career.
We are aware that the countrys education system continues
to turn out college graduates whose training and skills are not
attuned to the needs of the labor market both at home and abroad.
This is the lament of human resources and labor recruitment
officials who decry the continuing popularity of glamorous and
white-collar courses that produce diplomas but not well-paying
jobs.
The criticism had been voiced many times in the past by business
leaders and politicians but both government and the private
sector have failed to institute meaningful and concrete measures
to correct the mismatch between skills and jobs. The issue gains
added urgency in view of the governments inability to provide
it: students' questions make you dig deeper and learn more until
you know the subject inside and out.
5. Teachers Have Reasonable Hours
With students in school just six hours a day, teachers often
spend much less time on the job than their corporate
counterparts. With the 8-hour workday rapidly becoming the 10 to
12 hour day in other occupations, you'll find a teaching career
leaves you with more time for family, friends and other
interests. Sure, you'll have some long daysplan on time for
parent-teacher conferences, grading homework and attending (or
leading) after-school activitiesbut overall, a teaching career
will leave you with a life outside of your job. A teaching career
truly lets you achieve a work/life balance.
4. Share your Passions in the Classroom
Did you have a teacher that got you so excited about a
subject you started putting in extra time and work? That's what
happens when you share your excitement and enthusiasm. Sharing
your love of the subject matter with students is one of the best
benefits of being a teacher.
3. Can't Beat the Job Security as a Teacher
While requirements may differ from state to state, once
you've established yourself as a good teacher, you'll find there
are always jobs available. And, unlike many industries, layoffs
and downsizing are rare occurrences in education. For information
on the most high-demand subjects and areas, see our teacher
shortage article.
2. Teachers Have Serious Vacation Time
