Division of Polynomials
In general, to divide two polynomials P(x) Q(x)
where deg P(x) > deg Q(x), one can use long
division, a process similar to dividing integers.
Ex. (x 3 3x 2 + 4) (x + 1) = x 2 4x + 4
Ex. (6x 3 x 2 + x 5 + 4) (x 2 + 4)
8x + 8
= x 3 + 2x 1 + 2
x +4
If the divisor is of the form Q(x) = x a, then it would
be faster to divide using synthetic division.
