Song Lyric in Under My Skin Album. Study English Education Program,
Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of
Mataram. Supervisor: Asbah, Co-Supervisor: Hijril Ismail
In this thesis, the researcher focuses to the kinds of figurative language and
educational value used in 12 song lyrics in Under My Skin album by Avril
Lavigne. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method in the analysis by
read the song lyrics carefully and pay attetion for each sentences that contains
figurative language and educational value. The researcher uses the theories of
figurative language and educational value to elaborate the finding and meaning of
the sentences and contexts from each song lyrics.
The result of the analysis were found 22 sentences of figurative language in
the song lyrics of Avril Lavigne in Under My Skin album, there are 11
sentences of methapor, 5 sentences of hyperbole, 2 sentences of personification, 2
sentences of synecdoche, 1 sentence of methapor, and 1 sentence of simile. The
result of the analysis also found 9 sentences of educational values in the song
lyrics of Avril Lavigne in Under My Skin album, there are 3 sentences of
confidence and capability, 1 sentence of sensitive and not selfish, 1 sentence of
self dicipline and moderation, 1 sentence of honesty, 1 sentence of loyalty and
trustworthy, 1 sentence of fair and humane and 1 sentence of bravely.
