The Social Studies Framework is based on expectations that SDoL teachers will engage students in integrated and multidisciplinary
instruction to ensure that all students:
Become informed and responsible citizens; Use effective decision-making and problem-solving skills; Are prepared to deal with a rapidly changing world; Demonstrate tolerance and awareness of all cultures; and Develop a global perspective that recognizes the interconnectedness of humans and their natural environment. As a result, all students will be able to use the following process skills throughout their lives: Critical thinking; Effective use of research tools and technology; Communication; Effective collaboration as a member of a group; Evaluation and analysis of information and ideas; and Historical perspective.
