About TRBOnet by Neocom Software

TRBOnet is a suite of professional applications for dispatch centers of MOTOTRBO
radio networks developed by Neocom Software since 2008. TRBOnet manages
voice, text and data communication paths to network endpoints and provides a
unified graphical dispatcher workbench interface for all the messaging and
workforce orchestration tasks. Recognized as the Best Radio Application Partner by
Motorola Solutions, TRBOnet enjoys a proven track record of success in businesscritical radio network deployments worldwide.
The TRBOnet family of products deliver:

Talk group cross-patching independent of the subscriber types, both as

permanent system bridges preconfigured by network designers as well as
temporary, ad hoc patches improvised by dispatchers with a drag-and-drop
ease.
Extensive connectivity options for any mode MOTOTRBO networks with
public phone, SIP and private VoIP interconnects, SMS and email gateways,
intercom among multiple dispatchers.
Comprehensive location awareness features which include integration with
a variety of online and offline map providers, indoor positioning,
geofencing, route and speed control and GPS event-driven workflows.
Support for communication scenarios typical for key vertical markets, such
as lone worker monitoring, alarm management, job ticketing, RFID
integration, field device telemetry polling and control, and many others.
Full audio and activity logging complemented by a rich set of configurable
built-in reports.

Requirements and Prerequisites

Requirements and Prerequisites

The two key TRBOnet applications, the Server and the Dispatch Console, can be
installed on a single Windows computer. In production environments, however, it is
not uncommon to host the server, the backend database and the client on separate
machines to meet the demands of differing load profiles of the components.
Hardware
Component

Requirement

CPU and RAM

As a general baseline, a modern PC with a four-core,

multithreaded CPU and 4 GB of RAM will comfortably handle
connections with up to four repeaters and ~50 simultaneous
voice transmission sessions. To give further hardware capacity
planning advice for a real-life production system, more specific
deployment particulars will have to be taken into account.
Your preferred TRBOnet reseller or the Neocom Technical
Support team will be happy to assist you with such sizing
calculations.

HDD

Complete installation of TRBOnet will take about 400 MB.

You must also provide adequate amount of free space for
future growth of your database. Additionally, if you choose
to log the talk sessions, about 1 MB per 1 minute of audio
recording will be consumed.

Network

A reliable, low latency IP backbone connection to the

MOTOTRBO repeater is required.
Follow the guidance provided in Characteristics of Backend
Network chapter of MOTOTRBO System Planner document
to achieve the recommended delay, jitter, packet loss and
bandwidth values and meet your target service levels.

Audio Interface

A single-channel internal sound adapter will be sufficient for

a simple setup with a single repeater connection. A more
robust, external multi-channel audio interface is required
in a more complex configuration.

Display

At least a 12801024 resolution display is required. The

recommended resolution is 1600900 or more. Multiple
monitors for the Dispatch Console computer will improve
the operators productivity.

Software
Component

Requirement

Windows OS

Windows 7 or later, Windows Server 2008 or later. Both

32-bit and 64-bit versions are supported.

TRBOnet 4.8 Quick Start Guide

Requirements and Prerequisites

Official mainstream support for Windows Server 2008 was

ended by Microsoft in 2015, therefore, we recommend
using at least version 2008 R2 for new installations.
Microsoft SQL Server

Version 2008 or later; Express or higher edition. Both

32-bit and 64-bit versions are supported.
Microsofts official mainstream support of version 2008
ended in 2014, therefore, we recommend using the more
recent versions 2008 R2, 2012 or 2014 for new
installations.

Microsoft .NET
Framework

Version 4.0 or later.

Database Sizing Considerations

On MOTOTRBO networks with only a few hundred subscribers, the free Express
editions of Microsoft SQL Server can be used for many months before the 10 GB size
cap is reached. To continue using TRBOnet after your Express edition database is
filled to the maximum licensed limit, you will have to archive and purge the
records.
The major contributors to the database fill rate are text messaging volumes as well
as location polling frequency and amounts of other data traffic, such as device
telemetry transmissions.
For larger, busier radio networks, Standard editions of Microsoft SQL Server are
recommended.
Virtualization Considerations
Using control stations to connect to the MOTOTRBO network is not currently
supported for virtualized TRBOnet installations. Use a repeater connection with
TRBOnet Server hosted on a virtual machine. Alternatively, if you must connect via
a control station, add the TRBOnet Swift Agent device between the radio and the
TRBOnet Server.

Requirements and Prerequisites

MOTOTRBO Radio Network Components

An existing, functional Common Air Interface network operating in IP Site Connect,
Capacity Plus or Linked Capacity Plus mode with at least one repeater is required
for a successful installation. The diagram below provides an illustration of the
TRBOnet system connected to an IP Site Connect mode network.

While it is technically possible to connect to the MOTOTRBO network via a control

station radio, the repeater-based connection is the most straightforward, reliable
and well supported configuration.
Accounts and Security
Use a local administrator account to perform the installation.
