its Too Late to Clean Your Tanks
Most Emergency Power and Engine Performance failures start in
the Fuel Tank and are caused by the inherent instability of fuel.
Fuel degradation is a natural process that causes the formation
of sediment, tank sludge and acid. It starts at the refinery and
continues until the fuel has been used. Heat, pressure, temperature
changes, water and microbial contamination accelerate the fuel
breakdown process.
The mandated use of biofuels has caused a dramatic increase in fuel
re-polymerization. This is causing rampant filter plugging, fuel injection
system failures and a significant reduction of stored fuel shelf life.
Advancements in engine and injection system design demand perfect
fuel. However, changes in fuel production methods combined with
the use of biofuels are seriously endangering engine performance
and the reliability of critical power. Traditionally, the solution has been
to periodically replace stored fuel and clean tanks. This is a very

AFC-705 Fuel Catalyst is a unique and powerful, broad-spectrum fuel additive concentrate for

Most engine failures start in the tank

Diesel engines take more fuel out of the tank than is needed for combustion. Fuel is continuously
cycled from the tank through filtration and separation to the engine, returning most of the fuel back
to the tank. In 24/7 applications, one would think continuously moving fuel would result in spotless
tanks, but this is not the case.

Fuel filters should last thousands of hours.

However, frequent filter changes, tank cleaning and replacing fuel have become commonplace
periodic maintenance practices instead of being serious warning signals for potentially expensive
downtime, power failures and liabilities.
Fuel conditioners immediately extend filter life and clean the total fuel system by returning
clean, conditioned fuel to the tank whenever the engines or pumps are running. They protect the
injection system and extend engine life.
AXI fuel conditioners stabilize and condition fuels by reducing the size and mass of clusters of
fuel molecules. In combination with primary filter water separators, fuel conditioners prevent
fuel degradation and microbial contamination. They optimize fuel quality, keep tanks clean and
protect engines.

Advanced Warning System for Prime Power Filtration

When downtime is unacceptable, AXIs Smart Filtration
Controllers (SFC) provide timely warning when filters
need service or high water levels in the separator are
detected. Connected to remotely switchable, dual filters,
AXI controllers can be programmed to automatically
switch filters, preventing unplanned engine shutdown
and power outages.
AXIs Smart Filtration Controllers seamlessly
integrate with BMS/BAS systems and can be used
on all filtration and fuel water separation equipment.
The standard RMS-60 is PLC based, while the SFC-70
is equipped with an HMI Touch Screen controller for
Modbus, TCP/IP, LAN and Internet connectivity for E-mail
and SMS maintenance alerts.

WATECT 550 is a micro-controller based water detection alarm module. The unique and
proprietary measuring method utilized by the WATECT 550 eliminates electrolytic probe corrosion
and works with common water probes and sensors.
The module is protected against reverse polarity, over-voltge, over-current and has safe recovery
from power interruption. Its potential-free SPDT relay output controls N.O. and N.C. contacts up
to 250V/3A. The compact, flanged housing is environmentally sealed and can be used in harsh
environments.

maintenance alerts.
The SFC-70 Series with its potentially unlimited analogue and digital inputs can be used for a wide

Water absorbing polymers trap water and remove it from fuel, preventing
free, dissolved and emulsified water from passing through the filter.
MICROGLASS
Inorganic fibers capable of capturing and retaining up to 400 times more
contaminant than traditional filter elements. Microglass filters last approx.
5-times longer.
X-GLASS
X-Glass Microglass filters have a much higher contaminant-holding capacity
and lower pressure drop than traditional microglass elements, significantly
extending filter change intervals.

Monitoring fuel integrity is an essential part

of all fuel maintenance programs
Fuel degradation is an unavoidable, costly, natural process, until we implement
adequate fuel quality maintenance equipment, effective housekeeping and a fuel
sampling and testing program. In every tank, fuel will continuously deteriorate forming
sediment and acid. This process cannot be stopped by simply using filters and a
separator. The installation of AXI Fuel Conditioners and Fuel Optimization equipment is
the only way to assure fuel integrity at all times.
Fuel deterioration and microbial contamination result in an expensive loss of product
in fuel storage tanks and negatively impacts engine and generator performance and
reliability. Implementing a fuel quality sampling, testing and monitoring program is
a must because hospitals, data centers, telecommunications and first responders
require a 0% failure rate to eliminate liabilities and loss of life.
The National Fire Protection Association states in NFPA 110 Standard for Emergency
and Standby Power Systems that: fuel maintenance and testing should begin the day
of installation.

Microbial Contamination Testing Kits are

excellent tools to monitor aerobic bacteria,
anaerobic bacteria, fungus, yeast, mold and
microbial activity. They easily demonstrate
and quantify bacterial contaminant growth
in fuels and other fluids. (Additional fuel

Water Finding Paste

Kolor Kut paste is amber in color and changes to
a brilliant red when exposed to water. It is a simple
tool to check for the presence of water in:

AXI Fuel Sampler
The Sample Thief or Bacon Bomb takes samples from storage tanks. The device
has a plunger assembly which opens upon contact with the tanks bottom, or when
opened with a tripline if a mid-tank sample is desired. Upon withdrawing, the plunger

The Fuel Sampling Pump Kit

An excellent tool to easily obtain fluid samples while keeping your
hands clean. The kit contains a Hand Pump and uses flexible
1/4 tubing and see-through treated bottles. The pump protects
against cross contamination by drawing fluids directly into the
bottle and can be used for fuels, oil, hydraulic fluids, coolant, water
and other liquids.
