Secondary Education from Thomas University
This teacher is fully certified and/or licensed by the state, has earned at least a bachelors degree and demonstrates
competence in each core academic subject area in which the teacher teaches as required by NCLB legislation
(2001) & Title II-A.
Course Description:
Statistical Reasoning is a fourth mathematics course option for students who have completed Algebra II, Advanced
Algebra, Accelerated Geometry B/Algebra II, or Accelerated Analytic Geometry B/Advanced Algebra. The course
provides experiences in statistics beyond the CCGPS sequence of courses, offering students opportunities to strengthen
their understanding of the statistical method of inquiry and statistical simulations. Students will formulate statistical
questions to be answered using data, will design and implement a plan to collect the appropriate data, will select
appropriate graphical and numerical methods for data analysis, and will interpret their results to make connections with
the initial question.

*The average derived from these percentages in the teachers grade book will then be averaged with the students score
on the End-Of-Course Test/ final, which will account for 20% of the students final average.
Remediation procedures:
Re-assessments will be done during the semester through the use of the midterm and final exam. The highest replacement
grade will be a 70. Look at pages 15-20 of your student handbook for more details.
Infinite Campus: The fastest and most up-to-date way for parents to track a students progress is to utilize the Parent
Portal piece of the Infinite Campus student information system. To obtain access to Parent Portal parents may pick up a
Parent Portal Registration Form from the CCHS Guidance department or from the school of the youngest child registered
in Colquitt County. Parents who utilized Parent Portal during the 2015-2016 school year do not need to register again.

Statistical Reasoning classes will use a TI -84 graphing calculator and a Casio fx-115 ES in class and that while, not
required, some students may want to have a personal calculator to use at home as well as to use once they enter college.
The library will also have calculators that students can check out.
Course Repair
All excuses, make-up work, and other grade related material must be made up before the end of each 4 week grading
period.
Academic Referral
Students who do not complete assignments may be assigned an academic referral that will be handled by a school
administrator. The purpose of the referral is to help students end behaviors that will jeopardize their learning and success in
the course
Important Issues:
~ Homework will be given on most days and students are expected to complete all homework assignments. Homework is
an essential step in the learning process. Practicing the skills taught in class will promote a better understanding of
mathematical concepts thus aiding in success on assessments and in the course.
~ Writing is very important in all subject areas and we will be doing different writing assignments in our class.
~ Students are responsible for getting class notes from another student when they are absent. It is the students
responsibility to complete and turn in make-up work. When a student misses class, it is wise for him or her to come in for
extra help after school so that we can go over the concepts that the student missed. Students must makeup missed quizzes
and tests before or after school or during an extended period.
~ Students are encouraged to come in for extra help. Often, a few minutes of individual help can result in a student
understanding material that he or she had found difficult. Students may come in before or after school for help, please
check with me first so I can check for conflicts. My availability is listed on the front page. In the case of school meetings
or personal appointments and emergencies, I will notify students that I will be unavailable. It is helpful for students to
inform me at least a day in advance if they plan to stay after school for extra help or to make up work.
~ Late work is penalized 5 points per day with a maximum of 25 pts.
Expectations and Classroom Rules:
Students should behave in an appropriate manner for all students to achieve maximum learning. Any referral may
disqualify a student from final exemptions. Students should bring appropriate materials to class each day and be prepared
to work when the tardy bell rings. Tardies and absences may disqualify a student from final exemptions. Students should
keep their work organized in a 3-ring notebook. Successful organization leads to better preparation for frequent quizzes
and major tests which are used to determine a students mastery of concepts. Remember, students will follow ALL school
rules. Cell phones will not be tolerated.
Discipline: If a student chooses to break a rule, the following consequences may occur:
First Offense: Verbal warning
Second Offense: After school detention
Third Offense: Call parent
Fourth Offense: Sent to office
