PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

Everyone has different personalities and beliefs, just like everyone has different
philosophies. When it comes to teaching all teachers have different ideas on how a classroom
should be operated. Their philosophy will make major contributions to how the classroom is ran.
All classrooms will be ran different because everyone is different and has different philosophies.
In the book the philosophy that is the best fit for me is Essentialism. The aspects that are
relative in this philosophy are the beliefs that everyone should have a specific set of knowledge
and skills, because they are proper for life and gives the ability for advancement. Also that
knowledge and understanding concepts are important and will be used to relate to the real world.
Students should be gaining the same amount of knowledge and be able to recall the information.
This is important, because they will be able to advance their knowledge with the set foundation
of knowledge they have gained and use it in the real world.
According to my philosophical beliefs, the teacher will teach the knowledge and skills
that are relatable to the real world. This would allow the students to understand the world better
while they are in school and out of school. This will get them prepared for their future. The
Essentialism philosophy states that all students should have a certain set of knowledge and skill
that can be applied to the real world. This is true, because all students need the essentials to be
successful.
The teachers role is to provide their students with the set curriculum and skills needed
and to check that their students have gained the concepts, according to the Essentialism
philosophy. This means the teacher should center their curriculums on the essential knowledge
and skills. However, the students role is to master the knowledge and skills and prove that they
have mastered it by doing things such as standardized test. According to Essentialism
philosophy, the students should have a certain set of knowledge that they can us to apply
themselves to the real world and advance from it.

PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

I learn best by seeing things broken down visually into the concept and where the concept
derives from. I have discovered that I like to learn by seeing the concepts done first by the
teacher, then practiced with the classroom, and finally performed by myself. The learning
objectives should be taught by the teacher, with learning centers, student teaching, and integrated
subject matter. The subject content and how it is taught should be decided by the teachers set
curriculum and what learning types best benefits the students. This is stated in the Essentialism
philosophy.
A philosophy contains beliefs, ideas, and background of ones life that all contributes to
ones philosophy. Having a philosophy is important as a teacher, because it will have an impact
on how the classroom is ran. Therefore, Essentialism philosophy and some aspects of this
philosophy are important to my life and will contribute to the ways I will operate my classroom.
