Rack hardware

Put the switches, servers on Rack

According to the topology diagram on the
next page to build up the whole physical
network environment.
NOTEThe location of switches could be changed according to Rack
capacity.

Establish network connection

Aspen cloud installation guide

Establish network connection

Notice:

Port1 of each switch connect to Internet (redundancy)

We left port 2 of each switch in case the link-aggregation demand.
( aggregate port 1 and port 2 )
Each Firewall Server utilize 4 Ethernet ports. Eth1 and eth2 used for
bonding in VLAN2, eth0 in VLAN1 and eth3 for heartbeat with the
other firewall.
Each Cloud Server utilize both Ethernet ports to build a redundant
binding (named bond0).
*IP Addresses distribution rules:
gateway:xxx.xxx.xxx.1 Sw1:xxx.xxx.xxx.2 Sw2:xxx.xxx.xxx.3
fw:xxx.xxx.xxx.4 fw2:xxx.xxx.xxx.5
Other servers follow the same steps,but other servers NIC setting will be changed later;
*sw1,sw2 could be placed in the Rack according to Rack capacity.

OS Preparation

Download the 2 ISO images below, check their md5 to ensure them are
error-free, then burn them to blank DVD disks respectively. (Note: the 2 ISO,
one for cloud firewall, the other for cloud server.)

ftp://imgsetup:powerall@ftp.goodvm.com/cloudinstall/CentOS_5.4_cloud.iso
( Used for cloud Server, R710. )

CENTOS_5.4_CLOUD_R210_2_500G_SD.iso
( Used for cloud firewall, R210 )

Please ensue CPU virtualization ( Intel-VT or AMD-V ) is enable in BIOS before

the installation.

Aspen cloud installation guide

Build a RAID Array, raid 5 or raid 6

Firewall server does not need to build hard disk array.

(NOTEThe scripts in the installation DVD will make soft raid 1 in Dell R210 when
install firewall system);

Build RAID on Cserver

1. If the Cserver&Cstorage only have 6 x 2TB SATA HD inside, please build RAID5 or
RAID6 on all 6 HDs. After RAID built successfully, divide the unique array space into two
partitions which named virtualization disk in Dell Servers, the 1st Virtualization disk is
500G for OS, left space for Data.
2. If the Cserver has 2 x 1TB SAS HD and 4 x 2TB SATA HD. Please build RAID1 on both
SAS HD and build RAID5 on all the other 4 SATA HD. After RAID built successfully,
divide the SAS array (RAID1) space into two partitions which named virtualization disk
in Dell Servers, the 1st Virtualization disk is 500G for OS, left space for Data.

Reboot server

NOTEPlug your Keyboardmousemonitor into the unit's Console Ports, then

configuration servers.

Other Setting in BIOS

SATA Setting > SATA Controller > AHCI Mode(this item

is just for Dell R210 and others which only has 2 HDs in
each.
Booting Settings > Boot Sequence > 1. DVDROM 2. HD
Integrated Devices > Embedded Gb NIC > Enable (not
with PXE)
System Security > AC Power Recovery > On

Report keyboard Errors > Not Report

Press <Ctrl><E> when prompted during POST to start
configure the iDRAC6 port. (refer to the <Dell iDRAC6 configuration
guide> for detail steps, click the super link to download the guide.)

Environmental Test for System Integration

1. Equipments Working Status Check

Check LED light of each equipment, to ensure all
LED status are normalNo Error, No Warning.
2. Network TestAfter server power on, to check each
Ethernet port of all servers to make sure they are
working on 1000Mbps.
And check the corresponding ports on switch side to
make sure all the working ports are working on
1000Mbps as well ( Green light )

3. Try to control each server via iDRAC6.
