COMING UP WORKSHOPS
Spring has sprung and Creators are planning a series of workshops over the next three months.
An October Seniors Celebrations workshop will be centred on wellbeing art expression. This experimental mixed media art, printing workshop is exploratory in nature
and will assist you to embrace creativity. Through the infinitely expressive mediums of
paint, collage and print, the workshop will demonstrate connectedness in the shared
telling of our unique stories in their many forms. Book your spot today.
This workshop will use the reduction method for multi- block lino
print. Students will design and cut and print a 2 colour block over two
days. $85 ($63 members) Bookings: www.trybooking.com/NARA
Karen Beck and Stephanie Jakovac have joined the co-op so will
soon be displaying their creative makings in the shop for sale. Following council funding cuts, Karen has had to step down from the position as Creators co-ordinator but hopes to use her UmberElla on-duty
time to get back to creative pursuits. Stephanie's body of artistic work
comprises paintings inspired by her personal life experiences, her
observations of people and landscapes. Her artworks are mainly oil
on canvas and reverse oil glass paintings. Thanks to our outgoing
members who have had to depart for various health and social reasons hopefully we will see them back some time in the future.
We are currently opening from 10.30 to 4pm Thursday to Sunday.
Come on in and spend a warm half hour checking out the new prints
and other artist made products. Our new raffle is for a stunning Lyn
Callaghan print ($2 per ticket).
The UmberElla print cooperative consists of a group of members
who rent the studio space to sell framed and un-framed prints, and
other hand made art wear, homewares and gifts. If you would like
to join us please feel free call in and talk to one of us during our
opening hours or contact us by emailing:

OTHER EVENTS
Gallery Photo Shoot. The empty gallery became
a temporary photo studio over two Sundays recently, when Creators members Paul Temple and Rebecca van Herk shot some creative portraits using
several models, make-up artists and a hairdresser.
Members are reminded that, when there are no exhibitions on in the gallery, they are able to hire the
space to do artwork of any
kind (If it's messy you have
to clean up though!). Cost
is $20 per day and any
number of artists may be
involved. Our visitors can
then see artists at work as
part of their experience at

COMMITTEE NEWS
Our costs are rising and local government grants have been cut but this just
means we need to consider other ways of raising funds. One of these has
been to apply to be put on the Register of Cultural Organisations. If successful, funds raised at specified events and donations to Creators Artspace
could be classified as tax deductible gifts. With this in mind we are looking
forward to putting on a ONE FOR CREATORS Exhibition and sale. Details and dates will be confirmed later but in the mean time it would be great
if you could put consideration into what art pieces you would be happy to
donate to make this a quality and successful event.
Creators Artspace is a community arts group. We are incorporated as a not-for-profit group
and are funded through memberships, exhibition and studio hire, workshops, and fundraising.
Membership is $25 per year, payable each July. Your membership benefits include this newsletter, workshop discounts, eligibility to hire the gallery or studio and printing press.
