Japan Pulp and Paper Company Limited believes one's own benefit comes from acting with the

benefit of others
in mind (Jiririta) as its fundamental principle and has carried out its business with the aim of widely contributing to
the development of society.
The Japan Pulp and Paper Group will continue to foster this spirit. As a means of ensuring the Group's entire
managerial and regular workforce are aware of the values that the Group has always held dear and to put these
values into practice, the Japan Pulp and Paper Group has created the Japan Pulp and Paper Group Charter of
Corporate Behavior.
In this Charter of Corporate Behavior, we have established nine action guidelines, disclosed these publicly and
are further committing ourselves to the pursuit of these principles both internally and externally to fulfill our
corporate social responsibility in undertaking our business activities in all countries and regions.
The Japan Pulp and Paper Group aims to realize a sustainable society by sharing the values created through its
business activities with its various stakeholders. To achieve this objective, the Group will steadily implement the
Charter of Corporate Behavior.

Since its establishment, Japan Pulp and Paper Company Limited has earned society's trust as a stable and
reliable supplier of fine paper products and has contributed to the development of society through paper-related
activities based on its belief one's own benefit comes from acting with the benefit of others in mind (Jiririta). The
Japan Pulp and Paper Group must once again raise its awareness of and strive to further increase the trust that
society has placed in it. To this end, the Japan Pulp and Paper Group has established and put into practice the
following Charter of Corporate Behavior to promote an awareness of its corporate social responsibility in
undertaking business activities in all countries and regions and thereby further increase the trust of society.

Contribute to Society through Business Activities


The Japan Pulp and Paper Group shall contribute to the advancement of people's lives, cultures, societies and
economies by creating social values through its business activities.

2.

Absolute Compliance with Laws and Regulations


The Japan Pulp and Paper Group shall endeavor to comply with laws and regulations, obey national and
international rules and social norms, and shall always conduct its activities in accordance with its established
corporate ethics.

3.

Free, Fair and Transparent Business Practices


The Japan Pulp and Paper Group shall conduct transparent and appropriate business activities based on
principles of free and fair competition. Furthermore, the Group shall maintain sound and proper relationships with
government agencies and political bodies. Moreover, the Group shall reject all relationships with anti-social
forces or groups that threaten the order and safety of civil society.

Ensure the Trust of Stakeholders


The Japan Pulp and Paper Group shall consider the diverse needs of all countries and regions and provide
secure and safe products. Furthermore, the Group shall thoroughly ensure the appropriate preservation and
management of crucial information, beginning with personal information and customer information, and
undertake efforts to obtain the trust of stakeholders.

Provide a Safe and Healthy Working Environment


The Japan Pulp and Paper Group shall respect the diversity of its officers and employees and ensure the
provision of healthy and safe, work-conducive environments and assure the mental and physical well-being of
employees.

6.

Respect for Human Rights


The Japan Pulp and Paper Group shall respect basic human rights in all business activities. Furthermore, the
Group shall not condone any form of discriminatory treatment, child labor or forced labor.

7.

Promote Environmental Protection Activities


The Japan Pulp and Paper Group shall work to preserve the global environment and conserve natural resources,
and contribute to the creation of a prosperous Earth and pleasant society in which to live.

8.

Respect for Communications with Stakeholders


The Japan Pulp and Paper Group shall promote communications with all stakeholders, including customers,
business partners, shareholders and local communities, while fulfilling its accountability.

9.

Harmony with Society and the Community


The Japan Pulp and Paper Group shall proactively conduct social contribution activities in the local community
and society at large as part of its commitment to be a good corporate citizen.
Top management shall be cognizant of their individual roles as set out in this Charter and establish an effective
internal structure in taking the lead in putting the principles of this Charter into practice.
Moreover, officers and employees of the Japan Pulp and Paper Group shall understand and put into practice the
underlying principles of the Charter.
The Group shall also encourage business partners to put the Charter into practice to ensure thorough
implementation of the Charter.

*The Japan Pulp and Paper Group refers to the corporate organization comprising Japan Pulp and Paper Company Limited and its
subsidiaries, together with all affiliated companies over which Japan Pulp and Paper Company Limited has actual managerial authority.
