My Dear Eastern Kentucky Friends and Colleagues,

Greetings in the Name of the Lord.
I marvel at all of the great things God has been doing through ministry on the Eastern Kentucky District.
Thank you so much for your leadership and faithfulness.
This past month we celebrated a fantastic Ministers and Mates Retreat. Seventy-three of our ministers and
their spouses converged on Lexington in a spirit of unity and revival. Dr. Graves shared in our sessions four
anchors of our faith as we emphasized the theme, Drop Anchor from Acts 27:29 They threw
out four anchors and prayed. We paired up into prayer partners and committed to a year of
praying together, praying for the specific needs that were shared. Ask your pastor about our fun newlywed
game featuring Dr. David and Sharon Graves, the Wyatts and a few other famous Eastern Kentuckians. To
close our time on Sunday we had a moving service of communion. The weekend was unforgettable and most
importantly unifying for the EKD team. Pastor, if you were not able to join us this year please make this a
must for next year. The dates are August 25-27, 2017.

Just Water NYI Teen Retreat please make sure your teens are involved in the event.
Womens Retreat is right around the corner. Pray this is a powerful time for the ladies on the district.
Next month, we celebrate Pastor Appreciation. Please take to time to recognize your pastor. We are
blessed to have the best pastors around on the Eastern Kentucky District. Lets show them they are loved.

Think Outside The Box

A Note from the Armstrongs

Dear EKY We returned to Santo Domingo last week after our 9 week home assignment, and we were excited to attend
church with our local congregation in Pantoja, Dominican Republic. When we left for home assignment,
the congregation was steadily growing with about 30 average attendance, and when we returned there were
almost 60 people in attendance!! We were amazed and humbled by the work that God continues to do
within that community and in the congregation, and when we asked where all the new people came from,
the congregation told us it was from the mission effort that was held 2 weeks ago. During that time of community impact, over 200 school kits were put together with all of the donations that were received from
EKY and we are now seeing many children come back to participate in Sunday School and Wednesday
evening activities. THANK YOU for your tangible impact in the Dominican Republic and being willing to
work together to make Christlike disciples in the nations!
