INTRODUCTION

John Parankimalil (2012) defines education as a systematic process through which a child
or an adult acquires knowledge, experience, skill and sound attitude. It makes an
individual civilized, refined, cultured and educated. For a civilized and socialized society,
education is the only means and its goal is to make an individual perfect. It is the key
to solve the various problem of life.
In Malaysia education has always been regarded as a vital factor in achieving the
general aims of society. Higher educations in Malaysia are graced with the increasing
number of public higher education institutions (IPTA) and private higher education
institutions (IPTS). Both of these institutions goals are at producing excellent quality
and competitive products at a higher level to meet the domestic and global demand in
the job market. By offering a favorable learning environment that covers various aspects
of facilities, this can help the university to achieve that goal. Especially for IPTS
institution, Deputy Higher Education Minister Dr Hou Kok Chung (2008) said that in
contrast to the total number of 365,800 students are now pursuing undergraduate courses
at IPTS he also added that "The IPTS is getting stronger and more important,". However
, what actually matters is the academic achievement of the student .
The students performance (academic achievement) become an important factor in making
the best graduates who will become an extraordinary rulers and also responsible for the
growth of the country. Furthermore , academic achievement plays an important role for
the employer in recruiting workers especially the fresh graduates. Thus, students have to
place the greatest effort in their study to obtain a good grade in order to meet the
employers expectation.

Recent studies Checchi (2000). Based on the research done by him, he demonstrated that
children from richer families perform better than those from poorer families. Syed Tahir
Hijazi and S.M.M Raza Naqvi (2006) found that there is negative relationship between
student performance and student family income. Besides, other studies also shown that
there is a causal effect of absence to class on performance for students leads to poorer
performance Arulampalam (2007). This also supported by Park and Kerr (1990) and
Schmidt (1993) who found an inverse relationship between students attendance and their
course grades. There are various studies had been done and found that peers influence
does have impact on student performance Hanushek (2002) , Goethals (2001) , Gonzales
(1996)shown that peer influence has more powerful effects than immediate family.

The objective of this research is to investigate the impact the way college lecturers
teaching . This study is expected to give insight reference to lecturers, scholars, school
heads, school-administrators, education institutions and researchers. It will be effective in
addressing the problems of underachieving students in to order to enhance weak students
academic performance .

1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT

1) IDEAL SITUATION
Effective lecturing is more a matter of skill than presence and some techniques can help
to make lecturer enjoyable for the audience. For sure, some individual are more outgoing
and comfortable presenting to large groups than others, but the desired outcome of a
lecture is that student learn, not that they are entertained. Therefore, in everyday
teaching, there are some techniques which they should train when they are teaching,
include material not readily accessible in textbooks or take a different slant on the topic,
present material in a clear and logical sequence and make the material accessible,
intelligible and meaningful.

2) PROBLEM
But in reality what is happening actually lecturers who are not able to teach well, even
though they have their own qualification to teach, this is because they appoint lecturer
who is with higher qualification but zero skills in teaching. Last time if they wanted to
become a lecturer a post graduate qualification was not really necessary, but now the
career has become so professionalized over the past few decades that now it is nearly
impossible to get a permanent lectureship without having completed a PhD. The
qualifications that they need are a good bachelor's degree, possibly a masters in the
relevant field. However they forget the important of skills and techniques should be
together with good qualification in teaching. What student is facing due to this matter is
give impact on student academic performance, attitudes and environment.

3) EVIDENCE
Low quality education are behind Malaysias placement among poor third- world nation
in an OECD study on education, parent group asserted. Weakness in how they were
recruited and trained were compounding systematic flaws in Malaysian education.
Malaysia being ranked 52nd of out 72 countries based on proficiency of its students.
(Datin Noor Azmah 2016)
There may be education regulatory bodies such as the Higher Education Ministry, the
MQA, professional boards and so on, but most do not require a compulsory teaching
skills program for lecturers . One of the major reasons for the continuous deterioration of
Malaysian higher education quality is the high number of lecturers without lecturing or
teaching skills. Some may be in denial when we talk about the deteriorating quality of
our tertiary education, both in private as well in government institutions.
(VigneswaranKannan 2001)
Clearly that college lecturer give impact to student performance.

4) JARGON

Deterioration - decline

1.3 RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

This research objectives is stated below :

1. To investigate the impact students achievement by the way the college lecturer teach .
2. To investigate the impact of students attitude by the way the college lecturer teach.
3. To investigate the impact of environment by the way the college lecturer teach.

1.4 RESEARCH QUESTION

The research question of this research are stated below :

1) Does students achievement is influenced by the way the college lecturer teach ?
2) Does students sttitude is influenced by the way the college lecturer teach?
3) Does student environment is influenced by the way the college lecturer teach ?

1.5 Significance of Study

This study will explain that the significance of study is how the lecturers convey a
message to the students . The lecturers should use learning the suitable techniques then
it will give a major impact on students. This is because teaching and research are
found to be somewhat inadequate concepts for distinguishing between different aspects of
the academic role . However, this study will give an opportunity to lecturers to rebuild
their own strategies to manage their performance in a classroom. By understanding the
concept teaching can give the big influence to students. We can assume this concept
because it seems reasonable to be influenced by curriculum pattern and the natures of
the students. This factor also can give a modify to the college lecturer which is
qualified but fails to teach. Further the significance of study can give the turn impact
upon to approach to students.

Besides, the quality of educations must be same perfect as the quality of teaching. And
importantly, this research will established why the college lecturer fails to teach in their
silivers education. There is an evidence that the college lecturers approaches adopted by
students is the form of the teaching and learning environment or in the broadest sense.
Broadest sense means the comprehensive in education environment. This terms is
included of the research into academics conception of teachings. This quotes from
Kember,1997.

Significance of the Study

This study will discuss about the quality of teaching among college lecturers. The lesson
becomes an enormous impact in this research to find related constructs parallel to
teaching techniques . Then a college must provide a quality lecturer to ensure that they
can be an effective student. This is important because of the way the teaching will give
a huge benefit on all types of the peoples.

Benefiting the study are the various sector as follows :

The Students
If the college lecturer can teach more effectively , students will be able to understand
what they learned . All the knowledge will be delivered easily obtained by students and
thus can increase understanding and to achieve excellence for all students.
The College
Indirectly, the college 's reputation will be maintained . This allows that all parents
believe in the ability of colleges to educate their children . In fact, parents can also be
spread on the college 's ability to provide quality teaching and efficient in executing the
scope of teaching .
The Society
It can also change the peoples perception often assume that lecturers today less quality
in teaching. If this happen, college will bear a huge losses due to peoples thinking about
the disadvantages to send their children to college. So , the college must be always take
the right initiative in drawing public attention to their college.
