Pediatric Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow, September 2015-August 2016


Site: La Rabida Childrens Hospital, Chicago, IL
Supervisors: Bryce Hella, Ph.D. & Krystal Robinson, Psy.D.
Outpatient Clinic: Conducted evidence-based clinical assessments and psychotherapeutic interventions for children
presenting with pediatric and psychiatric diagnoses through the outpatient Behavioral Health Department. Caseload
consisted of approximately 12 patients per week.
Consultation-Liaison Service: Provided consultation-liaison services for children admitted to the hospital with chronic
illnesses and/or in need of rehabilitation after surgery, burns, brain injury, stroke, or suffering trauma who required
support around treatment adherence, adjustment to diagnosis or hospitalization, procedural anxiety, pain management, or

behavioral concerns
Sickle Cell Disease Clinic: Served as a member of a multidisciplinary team in the hospitals triweekly Sickle Cell Disease
clinics to provide social-emotional screenings and behavioral interventions (e.g., coping with chronic medical condition,
increasing medication compliance, relaxation training for pain management). Implemented mental health screening tool in
clinic (Pediatric Symptom Checklist) to improve recognition, management, and referral of patients psychosocial issues.
Pediatric Incontinence Clinic: Served as consultant to pediatrician in outpatient clinic for children presenting with
enuresis, encopresis, and incontinence issues. Provided assessments and behavioral intervention for toileting issues, as
well as social-emotional screenings, psychoeducation, and brief interventions for comorbid psychological problems.
Pre-doctoral Clinical/Pediatric Psychology Intern, July 2014-June 2015

Supervisors: Laura Shaffer, Ph.D.; Bryan Carter, Ph.D.
Outpatient Services (July 2014-June 2015): Conducted outpatient intake evaluations, provision of ongoing therapy for
youth ages 2 to 17 in a variety of modalities (e.g., child, family, and parent training) based on evidence-based strategies.
Caseload consisted of approximately 15 patients per week. Conducted evaluations in Kosair Children's Hospital
Emergency Department.
Pediatric Consultation-Liaison Service (July 2014-November 2014; Supervisor: Bryan Carter, Ph.D.): Consultations for
children with behavioral and emotional difficulties associated with acute or chronic physical illness or injury,
psychophysiological disorders, adjustment disorders, treatment noncompliance, behavioral acting out, and suicidal
behavior on the medical units of Kosair Childrens Hospital, including Pediatric Hematology/Oncology service, Bone
Marrow Transplant unit, Pediatric Cardiology and Heart Transplant Team, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the
Neurology Service, the Endocrinology Service, the Trauma Service, and the Burn Unit. Interventions included behavior
management, support/guidance to parents and nursing staff, patient coping skills enhancement and anxiety reduction,
biofeedback, and short-term supportive therapy. Conducted pre-transplant kidney evaluations as part of multidisciplinary
nephrology team.
Integrated Primary Care (November 2014-March 2015; Supervisor: Laura Shaffer, Ph.D.): Provided mental and
behavioral health services following a collaborative care model to children, adolescents, and families in a pediatric
primary care clinic in the University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics. Screened for mental health and behavioral
concerns, provide brief problem focused interventions, and make referrals for more extensive mental health services as
needed. Provided brief behavioral health interventions (e.g., improving sleep hygiene, increasing medication compliance,
relaxation training for pain management).
Weisskopf Child Evaluation Center (November 2014-March 2015; Supervisor: Margaret Calvery, Ph.D.): Conducted
comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological assessments for children and adolescents with various neurological,
medical, and psychiatric conditions. Conducted intake interviews and presented results and recommendations feedback
sessions with family members.
Inpatient Psychiatry (March 2015-July 2015): Served as member of inter-professional treatment team that included a child
psychiatrist (unit director), psychiatry fellows and residents, social workers, nursing staff, and expressive therapist on a
short-term, diagnostic and treatment inpatient unit for children and adolescents experiencing acute psychiatric disturbance.
Collaborated with multidisciplinary team to clarify diagnostic presentation and develop appropriate treatment plan,
provided daily individual therapy, and participating in daily unit rounds for disposition planning.
Advanced Therapy Extern, August 2013-June 2014
Site: Pediatric Mood Disorders Clinic, University of Illinois Chicago Medical Center, Chicago, IL
Supervisors: Amy West, Ph.D.; Sally Weinstein, Ph.D.
Conducted intakes and provided evidence-based cognitive and behavioral strategies to children and adolescents (ages 518) with mood disorders and comorbid behavior problems, ADHD, and trauma symptoms. Co-facilitated RAINBOW, a
manualized psychosocial therapy group for treatment of youth ages 8-12 with Pediatric Bipolar Disorder and their parents.
Co-facilitated a CBT Depression Group for Adolescent Girls. Conducted diagnostic assessments with multidisciplinary
team for youth with suspected mood spectrum disorders.
Advanced Therapy Extern, July 2012-June 2013

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic: Provided weekly individual and family outpatient treatment to individuals from

underserved population with a variety of presenting problems, including behavior problems, ADHD, mood disorders, and
trauma symptoms.
Adolescent and Young Adult Clinic (Supervisors: Gregory Lewis, Psy.D., Karla Anderson, Psy.D.): Coordinated with a
medical team to provide intake assessments. Provided weekly individual outpatient therapy to individuals (ages 13-24) in
a combined medical and psychiatric setting. Presenting issues included mood, anxiety, traumatic stress, and gender
identity.
Pediatric Consultation-Liaison (Supervisor: Gregory Lewis, Psy.D.): Provided medical inpatient and outpatient
psychiatric consultations to Pediatric Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, Trauma Unit, and Burn Unit for individuals
with issues including depressed mood, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment to newly diagnosed medical condition, adherence,
readiness for surgery, and pain management.
Intake Clinic (Supervisors: Rocco Domanico, Ph.D.; Karla Anderson, Psy.D.): Conducted diagnostic intake evaluations
for children ranging from ages 4-14. Coordinated with outside agencies and provided referral services. Assisted in
medication evaluations and management.
Diagnostic Extern, July 2011-June 2012
Site: Pediatric Developmental Center, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Hospital, Chicago, IL
Supervisor: Valeria Nanclares-Nogues, Psy.D.
Administered psychological assessment batteries for children and adolescents (ages 3-18) with a variety of developmental,
cognitive, and mental health issues, including autism, developmental delay, ADHD, learning disorders, and mood/anxiety
disorders. Received training and certification in the ADOS Modules 1-4 and administered ADOS assessments for children
referred for autism spectrum disorder evaluations. Conducted intake interviews and presented results and
recommendations feedback sessions with family members. Completed a total of 45 integrated, comprehensive reports
including interview information, behavioral observations, testing results, diagnoses, and recommendations.
Graduate Student Counselor, August 2010-May 2011

Provided short-term psychotherapy (6-8 sessions) with a population of undergraduate and graduate students in a university
mental health center, with presenting problems, including depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, relationship problems,
substance abuse, and eating disorders. Caseload consisted of 5 short-term clients and one long-term client. Conducted
intake interviews. Assisted in outreach groups for college population.
