The Pump Down Cement Float is a cementing accessory for use with Tescos
Casing Drillingand Casing RunningSystems
APPLICATION & ADVANTAGES
Tescos Pump Down Cement Float (PDCF-2) is a composite
material cementing tool specifically designed for use with Tescos
Casing Drilling and Casing Running Systems. The PDCF-2 is
a second-generation tool that is simple in design, cost effective
and easy to deploy.
The PDCF-2 is deployed by pumping it down the casing from the
surface and landing it in Tescos Casing Profile Nipple (CPN).
PDCF-2 can be pumped down at normal pump rates, saving rig time
and service costs compared to wireline deployed cement floats.
The PDCF-2 lands and latches in the CPN with a positive stop and
self-locking mechanism, providing accurate placement of the float
without wireline setting systems.
When landed, an internal check valve holds backpressure, preventing
backflow, and the top of the PDCF-2 provides a positive stop for the
cementing wiper plug.
The PDCF-2 composite design is drillable with PDC and roller bits,
permitting drillout to deeper horizons.

DESIGN & FEATURES

The PDCF-2 transports through the casing at normal pumping rates
with low drag and low differential pressure across the tool. A unique
helical steel carriage mechanically locks into the landing nipple recess
by a trigger mechanism and expanding spring action of the coil
carriage assembly. When landed, the steel carriage fits completely
into the CPN recess and will not interfere with drill out.
The bottom cup is designed to be self-anchoring providing redundant
resistance to bottom pressure and sharing load of the locking carriage.
Top and bottom cups have wear protection incorporated into the
seal lips mitigating against excess wear during pump down.
Once landed, circulation is established by raising pump pressure to
rupture the burst disk that seals the bore during pump down. The
internal check valve is isolated from pressure shock during rupture
and is made of a polymer plastic that will withstand high flow rates
of abrasive mud without erosion.
The PDCF-2 internal components are built of erosion resistant
composite plastics compatible with water and oil base fluids and
suitable for drill out with PDC or roller cone bits.
