From the Editor's Desk

It gives me immense pleasure to present the
Thirty rst issue of our annual college magazine
'Vision'. It was an enriching experience to work
on it.
This magazine is an attempt to capture and
record all the curricular, co-curricular and extra
curricular activities of the college during the
academic year 2015-2016. The magazine also
provides a platform to our students for
expressing their ideas and creativity on various issues in different
languages namely, English, Hindi, Sindhi and Marathi.
The theme of this issue is dedicated to saving water for saving our
mother planet, earth and for ensuring a better future for our children.
I hope that this issue comes up to the expectations of all and helps to
sensitize our students towards their social and moral responsibility for a
better future.

Message from the Principal

I am happy to present the issue of Vision.
New expectations and aspirations of the society
have to be fullled and education is the best tool
towards that. Our college is performing consistently
for around three decades and has been providing
quality commerce education to the learners. I am
glad that the faculty members have been
implementing innovative practices in teaching and
learning processes.
Mahatma Gandhi said - By education I mean
an allround drawing out of the best in child and man - mind, body and spirit. Our
teachers have been trying to achieve this vision by not restricting education to
the four walls of the classroom. All round development of personality is the main
focus. Thus students passing out should be able to give their best to the society.
We also cherish the dream of Gurudev Tagore of creating an education
system where the mind is without fear. The college organized various curricular,
co-curricular activities like guest lectures, eld visits, outreach programs,
seminars, sports and cultural activities etc. for betterment of our students during
the academic year.
All these activities would not have been possible without the wholehearted contribution from the faculty and staff of the college. The support and
co-operation of students were enthusiastic. We also received able guidance from
the Management.
This gives us more condence to move ahead to face the challenges of the future.

I am happy to present the Annual Report of the college activities for this Academic Year. The
important activities are mentioned below in brief:
The College activities for the current year started with auspicious Akhand Path Sahib

International Yoga day was celebrated on 21 June 2015.

Khushboo Charitable Trust of Cybage Software Pvt. Ltd. awarded scholarships to ve
students of F.Y.BCA. I thank Mrs. Ritu Nathani for her benevolence.
Our College is the Centre for Indira Gandhi National Open University for conducting
Masters in Economics, English, MBA, certicate courses. Induction meet for IGNOU
Study Centre was addressed by Dr.Parvez Masoor, Senior Regional Director.
A two day National Seminar on Culture & Communication: Reecting Paradigm
Shifts was organized by the College It was sponsored by Savitribai Phule Pune
University. The Seminar was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. Avdhesh Kumar Singh, Prof
& Director School for Translation Studies, IGNOU, New Delhi. Mr. Nitin Gavane
General Manager, Learning & Development, ThyssenKrupp Industries Ltd, Pimpri was
Guest of honour. Mrs. Aruna Jethwani, Chairperson, College Committee graced the
occasion.
After the Inaugural, four parallel research paper reading sessions were conducted. These
sessions were chaired by Dr. S.R. Kandalgaonkar, Former Vice Principal of BMCC,
Pune, Dr.V.N Bhalerao, Head, Dept. of Hindi Savitribai Phule Pune University, Dr.
Chetan Deshmane, Head & Associate Professor, HPT College, Nashik & Dr. Savita
Deogirkar, Head & Associate Prof, SVM College, Nagpur.
The panel discussion was Chaired by Dr. C. N. Rawal, Principal, BMCC, Dr Soman,
Principal, Symbiosis College of Commerce, Dr Ashok Chaskar, Vice Principal, SP
College, Dr Hitesh Raviya, Associate Prof, MS University, Baroda. Panelists underlined
the need of openness, integration, adaptability of people in the multicultural context of
conuence of cultures. George Cardoz, Head HR, Forbes Marshall, discussed the culture
of Forbes Marshall as a Great Place to Work For. Dr Ashok Thorat, Director, Institute of
Advanced Studies in English spoke about communication through building relationships
and then taking action.
The valedictory function was presided by Dr Hitesh Raviya, Associate Prof, MS
University, Baroda and Mr.Sham Sirur, Chairman, Cotmac Group of Industries . They
spoke about sensitivity in communication to adapt to different cultures. The seminar had
expert Chairpersons like Dr Bajrang Korde, Head, English Department, Savitribhai
Phule Pune University, Dr Shridhar Gokhale, Prof of English.
The Seminar received a very good response as 83 research papers in areas of Commerce,
English & Hindi from various States namely Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu,
Gujarat ,West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh , Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar &
New Delhi, . Participants & students from neighbouring colleges as well as from our own
college attended.

State Level Seminar on Financial Inclusion through Banking and Insurance was held
on February12, 2016.The seminar was inaugurated by Dr.Mrs. Vijayalakshmi, Chair
Professor National Insurance Academy, Pune. She spoke on Financial Inclusion
through Life Insurance. She introduced various schemes of Life insurance to the
participants. Her session was followed by a banker Mr. R. Balchandran, Financial
Consultant and Management Educationist. Mr. Asim Pattnaik, Chief Manager and Chair
Professor, General Insurance of National Insurance Academy spoke on Financial
Inclusion through General Insurance.
The seminar began post lunch with the speech of the Assistant vice president Franklin
Templeton, India Mr. Saq Hazarika who spoke on Mutual Fund: A dark horse in
nancial inclusion. The valedictory of the seminar was addressed by Mr. A.G. Gosavi,
former Principal, Modern College, Shivajinagar. There was active participation from
students and faculty from different institution. To name a few Symbiosis School of
Economics, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Gokhale Institute of Politics and
Economics, Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce and Amity University. Students
from outside Pune also participated in the seminar.
Savitribai Phule Pune University sponsored State Level Seminar on Entrepreneurship
in Twenty First Century was conducted on 12-1-2016 . The participants were from
different elds, Professors from various colleges from Pune & outside, members of
Entrepreneurs club, students and others.
The seminar was inaugurated by Mrs. Bharati V.Shilamkar, Manager, District Industries
Center, Pune. She spoke on various self employment schemes of District Industries
Center and government.
Mr. Mangesh Surve, Founder, M.D., Envicare Systems and Services, spoke on Role of
Social Entrepreneurship in National Development. Mr. Kisan Watni, Owner,
Management Consultancy-PACE, Aurangabad spoke on Decoding Entrepreneurship
skills. He spoke on current issues and challenges. Mr. Iftekhar Khan, Operation-Head,
Hands on Skills Education Pvt. Ltd. spoke on Developing Entrepreneurship skills in
Youth.
Late Mrs.Kaushalya Sangtani Memorial Intercollegiate Quiz Competition on
Commerce & Management was held on 9th February, 2016. 35 teams from colleges in
Pune and Pimpri participated.
Dr. Vinod Shah MD Medicine, FICA-US, specialist in Gastroenterology and Founder
Chairman of Janaseva Foundation was the Chief Guest, Mrs. Mugdha Satarkar Deputy
General Manager, Bank of Maharashtra was the Guest of Honour. Mrs. Nita Chabbria,
Member Jai Hind Sindhu Education Trust graced the function. Ms. Swaroop Kanade,
Voice Analyst and a Consultant at GAARE (Global Academy of Automobile Retail
Excellence) was the Quiz Master. Prof. Aashish Puranik of BMCC was invited as an
External expert.

Christ College, Pune bagged the 1 Prize. The 2 Prize was bagged by Garware College
of Commerce, Pune and Pratibha College, Chinchwad bagged the 3rd Prize.
The invited Intercollegiate Basketball tournament was held on 27th & 28th January in the
memory Late Mr. Atur Sangtani. The inauguration of the event was held on 27th January
at the hands of Mrs. Shobhana Mirchandani, member of the Trust. 14 colleges
participated from Pune District.
In this two days event Indira College of Commerce & Science, Thathwade bagged the
title & Late Atur Sangtani Rolling Trophy. Dr. DY. Patil College Ambi, Talegaon was the
runner up. Our alumnus & National Cycling Player Mrs. Priti Zende-Raut, (All India

Savitribai Phule Pune University. 16 colleges from Pune district participated in the event.
Indira College of Commerce and Science, Tathawade bagged the championship and
T.C.College, Baramati was the runner up.

An Inter collegiate student activity M.U.C C REFLEXION was organised on 23

January 2016. 05 activities; Power point presentation, Mono Acting, Elocution,
Photography & Creative Advertisements were conducted. 21 colleges participated in the
event. These activities were judged by eminent experts from industry, Sanjeev Vartak,
Faculty and Mr. Sanjeev Shah , Project Manager, Global Academy of Automobile Retail
Excellence (GAARE), Mr. Vishal Valecha,Technical Head, Bajaj Finserv Lending PAN
India, Mr. Anannd Sampat, Professional Photographer and Ms. Sneha Balgare, Senior
Lead, HR, Infosys, Hinjewadi.The Reexion Rolling trophy was bagged by ASMIMBR, Chinchwad.
A Hindustani classical singing programme was conducted by the college where in Mr.
Anand Bhate disciple of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and his team performed.
Lectures on music appreciation and live demonstrations were also held.
A Book Exhibition was organized by the college library.
A Sindhi Language Learning Course was held under the aegis of National Council for
Promotion of Sindhi Language, Ministry of HRD, Government of India, New Delhi.
Mrs. Kiran Masand conducted the course and 23 participants successfully completed the
course.
Gymkhana Prize distribution was held on 29th Feb. Mr. Nitin Ghule ( International
Player and Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee Superintendent of State Excise, Dhule), was the
Chief Guest. Guest of Honour was Dr. Mrs. Shobha Shinde, Director of Physical
Education Dapodi College (Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee).
In Boxing, Mr. Shubham Lonkar of S.Y.B.Com. bagged the title in his weight category at
zonal and university level boxing held at MIT, Rajbag, Loni. He was selected in Pune
University team for all India Inter University Boxing Championship held at Kurukshetra

University in November, 2015. In zonal boxing, Mr. Vivek Yadav of F.Y.BCA won the
bronze medal in his weight category.
In zonal athletics Mr. Shubham Pawar stood second in 110 meters hurdles and was
selected in zonal team for Inter-zonal athletics held at Sanas Sports ground Pune.
This year Athlete and NCC cadet Mr. Tanuj Sharma of T.Y.B.Com., the only cadet from
all Maharashtra battalions (Army, Navy and Air wing) was selected for national
advanced mountaineering camp held at Darjeeling (West Bengal) in the month of
October, 2015.
In basketball, gymkhana secretary and college team captain Ms. Vineetha Pillay of
T.Y.B.Com .was selected for Inter-zonal Basketball tournament held at Chakan. Annual
interclass sports meet in Athletics, Basketball, Chess, Carrom, Cricket, Football, Table
tennis and Volleyball were held.

by our students during this and throughout the year.. Road Safety Awareness program

with NGO named Peoples Trust" . A lecture on Road safety was given by Aditya
Pathak, Peoples Trust. Chandrakant Mane, Inspector , RTO. Free helmets were
distributed to students as a part of encouraging road safety. NSS volunteers conducted
survey of Children not attending Schools in Jan 2016 as per directions of SPPU and
PCMC .
Maheshwari Waghmare of F.Y.B.Com., Bapmare Laxman of T.Y.B.C.A. and Sapna
Sharma of T.Y.B.Com., Gayatri Jadhav of S.Y.B.Com. and Reshma Gavali of
S.Y.B.Com. participated at the University and State Level Camps.
Autonomous Certicate courses in Health & Nutrition and Law were held. Various
experts were invited. Autonomous Certicate courses in Health Nutrition Fitness and
Yoga were held. Dr. Deepak Shendkar, Prof. Vasant Pawar , Mrs. Seema Rajput, Mrs.
Suman Pande and Miss. Suvarna Kamble were invited as experts. Mr. Kishore Bartakke
LIC Advisor along with his team of Development Ofcers conducted awareness
programme in Insurance.
Sameeksha a research Journal of our College was released by Mrs. & Mr. Kamlesh
Moorjani.
Inauguration of Commerce Association was done at the hands of Mr. Pankaj Shah, Chief,
Axis Pvt. Ltd.
Industrial Visit, PPT, Elocution, Mono Acting and Sales Demo etc. were held in
December.
BBA and BCA induction Programme was conducted by Mr. Kamlesh Moorjani,
Management Consultant and member of NCPSL. Edutainment programme for various
XII standard students were held.

Moot Court Trail among others.
Seminar for BBA was conducted on 'Marketing and Management' on 11th Sept, 2015 and
the speakers were Mr. Bharat Nain Director United Nations Consultants Pvt. Ltd.
discussed Cases studies in Marketing, Mr. Anand Joshi Manager Quality and HR
BVG India Ltd. (MEMS) spoke on Training and Development and Mr. Rafeeq Shaikh
Area Head Mega Mart on Supply Chain Management.

were Dr. Ranjit Patil (Co-Ordinatior,BCA, Savitribai Phule Pune University) guided
students with application of knowledge in an organization and opportunities in the eld,
Mrs. Sangeeta Kulkarni (Sr.Faculty,SQTL) spoke on Software Testing, and Mr.Sateesh
Kumar Singh (Ethical hacker and Trainer,IANT) on 'Cyber awareness and Security.

BBA - Inter collegiate Debate Competition was held on 8 Jan, 2016 and the judge was
Ms. Neeta Bagade , HR Lead, Infosys.
BCA - Intercollegiate 'C' Programming and web designing competition judged by Mr.
Arvinder Kalota Consultant, Capgemini.
Short Term Courses and Guest Lectures on Cyber-Awareness, Know your Constitution,
Tally, Accounting standards, E-ling, Corporate Law, costing, Marketing,
Communication skills, Fashion Technology etc. were held.
Under Competitive Examination Centre and Remedial Coaching various guest lectures
were held. Ms. Shabri Shetty Educationist spoke on crisis in Greece.
Inauguration of Entrepreneur Club of the College was done by Mr. Sagar Kasari,
President : Mr. Sanjay Belhe, Vice President- Mr. Pankaj Nikam, Secretary of
Entrepreneurs club, Pimpri- Chinchwad spoke on the occasion. Mrs. Anjali Apte trustee
Entrepreneurs International and Mr. Bagul Sudhakar, Ex-President, Entrepreneurs club,
Pimpri- Chinchwad.
Under Culfest, various activities like Rangoli, Mehandi, Tatoo, Salad making,
handwriting, dance, Singing etc. were organized. Chief Guest was Mr. Hemant Sukheja,
Singer & Rapper.
Industrial visits to Mumbai Port Trust was organized by Economics Dept. Other visits
were made to Opulant Softwares, Parle-G Factory, Lifestyle, Westside and Dorabjees. .
Various Programmes and activities under Swach Bharat Abhiyaan were held like
cleaning the Pimpri Railway station, various foot-paths and places in and around PimpriChinchwad. Plastic Waste Awareness Campaign, as a part of Swach Bharat Abhiyaan,
was conducted on 13th Feb 2016 in Pimpri Area. Students took a pledge on Swach Bharat
Abhiyaan on this day.

Under Nature Club, tree plantation drive was carried out by students. A cleanliness drive
was conducted at Baner hill. Students were made aware of ora and fauna. Clay
modeling and paper bag making workshop was enjoyed by students.
The inauguration of Literary Association was held on 12th September, 2015. The invited
guests were Mr.Rajan Lakhe ( A renowned Marathi poet) and Mr. Amit Devkule ( A life
coach and English poet). 16 students selected in preliminary round, recited their poetry in
Sindhi, Marathi, Hindi & English language.
Hindi Diwas was celebrated on 14th September, 2015. Dr. J. M. Babar, HoD Hindi, D. Y.
Patil College Pimpri, was the Chief Guest. An Essay writing , Wall paper writing
competition and Poetry Recitation Competition was organized on this occasion.
A Book Review Writing Competition was organized for F. Y. B. Com. students in
January,2016. 85 reviews were received.
Marathi Bhasha Divas was celebrated on 27 th February 2016 as per the directive of
Govt. of Maharashtra. Chief Guest was Shri. Babasaheb Shengde, HOD Marathi, M.P.
College
A programme called Namami Sindhu was organized by the College. Chief guest Mr.
Govardhan Sharma, and Mrs. Aruna Jethwani, Chair-person of the college committee
graced the occasion.
In-house Debates, elocution competitions in English, Marathi, Hindi and Sindhi were
conducted.
Under Vidyarthini Manch, various programmes were organized. Ms. Jyoti Patania, a
social worker & Adv. Tara Nair conducted interactive sessions with students relating to
sexual harassment and laws relating to women.
Regular monthly counseling sessions for students were conducted by Counsellor Ms.
Himani Chaphekar,
Our students won 1st Prize at the intercollegiate singing competition held at ATSS
College, our students participated various intercollegiate activities and won prizes.
Most of our teachers attended and presented papers at National Seminars and
International conferences. Some of the teachers are doing Research. Dr.Vinita Basantani
is a member of Maharashtra Sindhi Sahitya Academy, Guest Editor and National
Advisory Board member for Literary Cognizance International Journal, Latur,
Maharashtra.
Avishkar Research Project Competition was held at Indira College of Arts, Commerce &
Science, Wakad, Ms. Pushpa Pamnani and Mr. Vishal Amolik participated and both were
selected for regional level.
Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony was held on 10 th March 2016 at the hands of Chief
Guest Scientist M.C Uttam of ISRO's Space Technology Cell of S.P. Pune University.

Under Staff Academy Dr. Mrs. Sumedha Bhosale, Director Status Health Club addressed
the staff on Effective diet and exercise for a good health. Another lecture on "life
beyond earth" was conducted by Dr. Yogesh Souche, Scientist G., NCCS, Pune.
Mr.Kumar Gera, Chairman of Gera Development Pvt. Ltd. was the Chief Guest at the
Convocation Ceremony held on April 18, 2016. He delivered the rst Convocation
address of the College and awarded Degree Certicates and medal to students of
B.Com., B.B.A. and B.C.A. who passed out in April 2015. Ms. Gurnani Jyoti Sunderlal
brought laurels to the College by standing 1st in Savitribai Phule Pune University in
Final BBA Examination held in April 2015. She received the JHSE Trust's Gold Medal
at the hands of the Chief Guest Mr. Kumar Gera.
