Find cout who is responsible for the content of the website and what his/her qualifications are. 1) Research what a typical diet would be for the people who lived in Japan during the 1700's. Imagine you own a small restaurant there during that time period. Create a menu for your restaurant. 2) Create a children’s picture book about samurai warriors, 3) Draw a map of Japan as it was in the 1700's. Note on the map places mentioned in the book. Draw a map of current Japan and show where those same places are today. 4) Give an oral report on Emperor Nakamikado. Try to find unusual facts about him to make your report interesting 5) Create a PowerPoint presentation on the life of Ieyasu Tokugawa. 6) Create a comic book that tells the Japanese legend of the sun goddess Amaterasu, 7) Borrow an abacus and learn how to use one. Create a pamphlet that gives directions for how to use an abacus. Give a demonstration in front of the class. 8) Write at least 10 haiku (poems). Make at least three sheets of paper and display them on poster board for the class to see. Include instructions for making paper on the poster board as well. 11) Research information on tea. Find out: how tea is made; how it is flavored; which countries are famous for certain types of tea; how tea is used for medicinal purposes; and how a tea ceremony is performed in Japan. Demonstrate the Japanese Tea Ceremony to your class and then orally share some of the information you have learned about tea. 12) Research information about Matsuo Basho. Check out a copy of the book from a public library and pick out some quotations that you think Seikei would have liked. Read them to the class. Pretend you are a salesperson on a jewelry-shopping network, Set up a stage area in front of your class and try to “sell” them your rubies. 20) Create a tourist brochure about the City of Ise. 21) Find out the farming methods and what types of crops were grown in Japan in the 1700's. Imagine you are living on a Japanese farm during that time and write 3 letters to a relative that lives in the city. Tell the relative what crops you grow and how you do the work. Describe problems you've had with the weather and insects. 22) Give an oral report on the Bon (Obon) Festival in Japan. 23) Research information on Ooka Tadasuke (Ooka Echizen). Create a web page about him. Be sure to include some of the crimes he solved. 24) Pretend you are Kazuo and that you keep a journal, Write 10 journal entries about your life since meeting Seikei. 25) Create a desktop Zen garden to display in class. Write a bret history of Zen gardens on a6 X 4 card and place it beside your display. 26) Research the history of women in theatre. Choose a method (PowerPoint, oral report, ‘web page) to present what you have learned to the class. 27) Research information on Izumo no Okuni. Pretend you are a newscaster interviewing her.
