Introduction.

CONDUCTING RESEARCH IN THE ASHFORD LIBRARY.

The requirement for these assignment is to review a peer reviewed article and apply
the knowledge at a professional level. In addition the article should feature the JIT approach
using technology solution. The Ashford online database was utilised in gaining access to the
article featured through thee assignment.
Step 1: Research & Reflection.
The peer reviewed article that I chose from the Ashford University
Library is The Future: Just-in-Time Learning Expectations and Potential
Implications for Human Resource Development by Dale C. Brandenburg.
While educational fields are increasingly growing with the increasing
technology, the expectation for Just in time learning(JIT learning) in the
workplaces and learning fields is similarly increasing at a much higher
rate. Just in time learning is generally considered as any-where, any-time,
any-how learning which is just sufficient, just-for-me, & just in the right
time. Nevertheless, in spite of increasing demand for Just in time learning,
we are simply starting to understand what it is & its repercussions in
different fields such as the human resource developmentHRD and
learning field.
Understanding of JIT.
JIT is an acronym of Just in Time learning & training; these refers to a revolutionary
new-fangled concept which has evolved owing to the revolution in the internet as well as the
changes occurring to the classroom setting. According to John Miller, before the evolution of
the internet people had libraries of maps in books on the shelves. Thus, the learners were
taught on how to traverse through the books to locate certain maps of certain places.

However, with the evolution and accessibility to the internet, when people are looking for
maps, they simply look for them online.
Value of JIT Training.
JIT training comes with different advantages and benefits especially to students or
children. Generally the students that are enrolling in school in the 21st century have a strong
sense of technological influence as well as proficiency. These type of learners are used to a
scenario where they can watch any TV show that they want at any time while skipping
through the commercials. Some of the popular technologies that have promoted these moves
includes the Netflix, Hulu & DVR inclusive of other technologies that have played a great
role in improving our media experiences. On the other hand, children are taught to obtain
different information from different sources such as while reading books; these practice is
generally borrowed from their media experiences.
These helps the learners in reaching educational expectations while preparing them
and introducing them into the JIT approach to teaching. Normally, education is featured as an
increasingly growing entity; thus the JIT approach will assist the students in reaching their
potential.
Experience with JIT Training.
On my case, the experience with JIT approach is basically minimal; these is due to the
formal learning methodologies as well as patterns. However, as an instructor, I formulated
some lessons based on the skills which were supposed to be mastered within the school
academic year. In addition, to ensure that the learners capabilities are meant, I had to backtrack & review some simple skills in order to elaborate on the intricate techniques I was
trying to teach. Throughout out the teaching course, I was able to understand the areas where
my students seemed lost having little idea on. These analysis helped me in backtracking and

teaching the terminologies and basic process that students seemed not to understand. This JIT
approach helped learners in understanding an idea more clearly & conceptualizing on new
skills.
Step 2: Instructional Problems.
The instructional problem that I identified in these case is the problem relating to my
workplace. The reason I decided to focus on the workplace is due to the fact that I work in a
workplace where students are particularly affected by different instructional problems thus
halting and affecting their understanding of important concepts. For instance, learners
struggling to understand and recall the concepts learned in the previous grade; these
apparently a common instructional problem affecting most students today. The main cause of
these problem is the failure of the students to carry out research educational research in the
internet regarding the course work. These could be due to problems such as accessibilities to
the internet while others are busy surfing through social sites with their course mate or others
across the internet. However, I have also witnessed cases where instructors are similarly
being affected by these instructional problems. For instance, Professional development is
apparently a common problem affecting instructors today. These is the case where instructors
are unfamiliar with the concepts they are teaching in classes thus posing a great challenge in
the instructional arena.
Some of the solutions to these problems includes: teachers should work in the efforts
of instilling the importance of internet to the students. Using the JIT approach, learners can be
able to access different useful learning materials such as tutorials, online discussions, among
others at the comfort of their beds any time and whenever they need such learning material.
Instructors should encourage students to regularly make use of educational videos since
visual learning has a long-lasting stand in the minds of the students. These can help them to

regularly recall the concepts they previously learnt thus strengthening their existing
knowledge. On the other hand, teachers who are unfamiliar with technological based learning
aids or platforms should similarly be advised to devise a personal learning lesson in which
case they can make use of online resources such as YouTube videos, wikis among others to
enhance their professional capabilities and development.
