ICT Legal and Ethical Issue PowerPoint Presentation

ICT technology has certainly made the world a much smaller place. We can
communicate with people and institutions all over the world at any time.
Unfortunately, the technology we use is not fool proof. Many issues technical,
legal, social, environmental and criminal in nature, are evident on a daily basis. Lets
take time to explore some of theses issues.
In this Chapter Project, your task is to create a short PowerPoint presentation that
will educate the general public about a legal and ethical issue involving ICT. You will
NOT be presenting the final project.
1. Choose one of the following topics that we, as a class, brainstormed.
Suggested topics include:
Copyright (Plagiarism and Downloading of music, software, movies)
Trademarks (Plagiarism)
Equity and Access (Access to Information)
Identity theft
Cybercrime
Cyber Bullying
Parental Control
Social Networking (Facebook, Twitter)
Employee monitoring
Sales of customer information
Big Brother (invasion of your privacy)
Health and safety in a technological environment (ergonomics, etc.)
Environmental Issues (waste, energy and raw materials)
Privacy (passwords, firewalls)
Credit Card Fraud
Impact on business of illegal and unethical use of technology
(Corporate Social Responsibility)
Cyber stalking
Spyware
Viruses
Before you start working on your presentation, make sure to tell the
teacher; one person per issue.

2. Your PowerPoint presentation will include the following:

a title slide;
an introduction to your chosen issue, including definitions of key
terms and an overview of this issue;
relevant statistics or trends on the extent of the problem this issue
presents in Canada or worldwide;
examples of this issue (current forms of the issue, of which computer
users should be aware);
discussion of both ethical and legal implications of the issue;
solution(s) (What can you do?);
a brief conclusion;
proper citations (see link below on how to properly source your
information).
