ABOUT URBANO
Urbano software is advanced software for pipe network design (sewage, water supply, gas and
other pipe infrastructure), with additional functions for hydraulic calculations, surveying information,
digital terrain model, GIS (various import and export data functions) and underlays (raster and
vector underlays).
All program commands and functions were placed in Urbano Workspace Panel, which makes the
program transparent and easy to learn and work with. The commands were sorted according to
groups and subgroups.
The program was divided into several modules. All modules with valid license will be available on
the Workspace. In order for the program to work properly, the license code should cover mandatory
modules. Other modules are arbitrary, and can be customized according to user's needs.

URBANO WORKSPACE
Urbano Workspace Panel - WS contains all Urbano commands, organized into groups and
subgroups. You can start the commnad either using mouse double click (DC), either mouse rightclick (RC). Except commands, Urbano can contain configurations as well. You can create arbitrary
number of configurations with various properties, change it whenever you like, save it and use it in
another drawings.
When you start AutoCAD profile with Urbano, Workspace will appear automatically. It is modeless,
which means that it will be active all the time. You can turn it off the same way as all windows by
X button. When you want to start WS again, just type WS in the ACAD command line.

DISK REPOSITORY
In WS - Disk repository you can store the configurations of labels, previews, longitudinal sections,
and all other functions where you can create your own configuration. You can store the
configuration in Disk repository using drag&drop select the configuration, press the left mouse
button and drag the configuration in Disk repository. After that, release left mouse button, and the
configuration will be stored. It will be available in the Disk repository all the time, so you can use it
in other drawings. You can take it to the new drawing using the same drag&drop method.
Important: First you have to open the new system.
Save the configuration
Repository configuration press this button to see available functions on the tree view of
the Workspace. By default, all available functions will be marked, and will appear in the Workspace
when you create new system. If you unmark some of the functions, they won't be available on the
Workspace anymore, or in the part of the Disk repository. If you turn it on again, you will be able to
continue your work using those functions.

Terraform module for handling digital terrain model DTM. You can create up to 10
DTM surfaces.
Canalis this module contains functions for definition of catchment areas, various
coefficients, calculation of flow values inside of the sewage system, hydraulic calculation of
the system, export and import functions that allow comunication with SWMM software, and
calculation of pipe statics. In order to use this module, first you have to create system of the
Sewage type.
Hydra - this module contains functions for definition of water distribution network node
types (tank, reservoir, emitter, pump, valve....), water demands, definition of cuves and
patterns that are neccessary in water network design, hydraulic calculation and
import/export function for the communication with EPANET design software. In order to use
this module, first you have to create system of the Water type previously.
Drawing/Raster manager this module enables work with various types of underlays
raster images (JPEG, TIFF) and vector underlays (DWG, PDF, DGN). It is possible to
handle huge amount of those files at once, turn it on and off whenever you want, and the
most important thing is with handling vecotr underlays it is possible to exclude/include
various elements according to certain rules, that can be customized (exclude or include
some layers, colors, element types..). You can manage the files by simply select them and
drag&drop them to the Workspace (when module Drawing manager is active), you can
create folder structure, or create import the files using database structure.
Geodesy this module contains functions for creating surveying underlays. It contains
geodetic symbols, lines, objects and other useful tools. It also contains functions for
creating cross sections of an alignment. The program will recognize pipe network topology
as well, so it is possible to create infrastructure cross sections. In order to use this module,
you have to create system of the Geodesy type previously.
If you don't see all those modules, it is possible that the license is not valid, or is missing. If
there is no modules at all, than the problem has occured something is wrong with the
license. Maybe the license has expired, or is not valid. It can happen that some other
program (i.e. antivirus program) interfers with the license. Please contact tehnical support.

You can create your own blocks as well, and choose it here. If you want to be able to choose your
own blocks, you have to save it as block in the Urbano installation folder, in the folder nodes.
Usually the location refers to this path:
C:\Program Files\Studio ARS\Urbano 8\ENG\2013\nodes
or
C:\Program Files\Studio ARS\Urbano 8\ENG\2010\nodes
The name of the installation folder always refers to the installation type (2010 for ACAD 20102012, and 2013 for ACAD 2013).
Network repository
This command opens the dialog for Network repository connection settings. Network repository is
similar as Disk repository. You can store your configurations, and take existing ones to work with.
The difference is that when you store your configurations on the Network repository, they will not
be stored on your compupter. They will be stored on server computer in the network, and all users
with access will be able to see and use those configurations. Network repository is available only if
there is license for module Network repository. This module is not obligatory.

POLYGON TOPOLOGY
Polygon topology represents the system of polygonal shapes - areas. This kind of system can be
used to represent cadastral parcels or some other type of areas. Polygons consist of points and
lines, but they are always closed geometry shapes.
In order to work with polygons, you have to create new system of polygon topology type. You can
work with polygons the same way you work with network toplology elements (nodes and section) you can draw polygons using various functions, convert polygons from ACAD elements, edit, erase
and label polygons, create table views

NEW
You can find this button on the top of the Workspace. When you click on it, falling list with
following commands will appear:
It is possible to create new system, new
system of specific type, or new system based
on predefined sytem template.
Check chapter System for detailed description.
Other available commands were described in
chapter New other commands.
New system
System represent the most important entity inside of one drawing.
All other entities (array, branch, node, section, polygon) belong to a system.
First you have to create the system, than you can draw elements and use all other commands for
system management.
It is possible to create arbitrary number of systems, but only one system can be set as current. You
can work only with the elements of the current system. The program will recognize only those
elements that belong to the current system.

System name is used to identify the system. Additionally, the system name is used to create
system layer names.
If you change system name, you can change layer names as well. Click the buttonrecreate layer
names. For user defined layer names it is recommended to keep the system name as prefix and
change just following layer description. With this method it will be easier to identify the layers
which belong to one particular system. Each system layer can have individual color and line type
definition.
There are four predefined systems available:

You can either open existing Series6 drawing in Urbano 8 and work in it, or open a new drawing by
select option "External drawing" and external drawing file. All topology elements with its data and
catchment area definition will be converted. Existing longitudinal sections won't be converted,
because there were significant changes made regarding this function. Longitudinal sections should
be recreated inside Urbano 8.
Conversion options:
Current drawing
All systems defined in the currrent Series6 drawing will be listed inside of this dialog and selected
to convert by default. You can unmark it. The system type will be identified automatically and
cannot be changed. Except all geometry and basic system data, all user data can be transferred to
Urbano 8 topology too, as well as pipe catalog.
It is possible to erase the old Urbano 6 topology elements after conversion to Urbano 8, erase
Series6 long sections and create a backup automatically from the drawing. It is recommended to
create backup to prevent possible data loss in case the conversion fails.
File
All Series6 systems defined in the external drawing will be listed inside of the dialogue and
selected to convert by default. The system type will be identified automatically and cannot be
changed. Except all geometry and basic system data, all user data and complete pipe catalogue
information can be transferred to Urbano 8 topology inside of the current drawing.

DRAW
This command group contains commands for drawing topology entities in the current
system of the drawing.
Note!
All Urbano topology elements drawn inside of the drawing can be modified or erased only with
appropriate Urbano commands. It is not possible to edit or erase them using pure AutoCAD
commands, because topology elements contain additional information stored in internal Urbano
database. In case you delete or change Urbano elements by AutoCAD command, use Reindex
button

Dialog Parameters:
You can select equipment type (node, overflow,
pump...) from the drop-down list.
Equipment type depends of the system type, so
available types are not the same for sewage and
water systems.
Sewage - node, overflow, pump, connection point,
sink-hole and syphon
Water supply - node, reservoir, tank, emitter, pump,
connection point and different types of valves.
To change the block for particular node type, use command Topology configuration editor
Note!
There are two types of nodes in topology main nodes and plain nodes. The program will
automatically set main and plain nodes. Nodes where only one section comes in, and nodes where
more than two sections come in will be set as main node, while node that connects only two
sections of the same branch will be set as plain node.
nodes can be entered only by clicking with the left mouse button inside of the drawing. After
activating button Auto zoom-pan and selecting the zoom factor (in the field next to it), the program
automatically zooms on the last drawn node and the area around it. When you draw a new node,
the program will automatically zoom on it. The size of the area around the node that is shown
depends on the zoom factor larger zoom factor larger area (and smaller drawing elements).
Draw subsystem must be activated if a subnetwork, connected to the main network should be
drawn. Such networks usually represent inlets or home connections. Subsystems are possible to
connect to sections without having a node defined. It depends on the option, set for auto
connection on which topology element a subsystem will be connected.

Note:
There are different DTM types supported, such as ordinary 3D faces, Urbano 8 Terraform DTM
and Civil 3D DTM. To define a 3D faces, Terraform DTM or additional points please refer to the
related chapters in the documentation.

Program can search for intersections with other systems and for intersection of between
two arrays of the same system if they pass thru the same point and that point is not their common
node.
The result will be an intersection point on each system intersection which will be automatically
recognized inside of the longitudinal section by elevation and pipe shape.
No matter which system was set as current, when you tend to draw intersections you have to set
the following:
Which system you would like to intersect
Which system, topological group (array, branch, section) or ACAD element intersects
chosen system.
Except that you can draw intersection points, it is possible to check the analysis of intersections as
well. Iti s available on the command Intersection Analysis.

function allows you to check your system according certain functional
parameters. If some of the parameters don't satisfy the conditions that you
set, the program will set warnings in longitudinal sections.
For each value inside of the dialogue it is possible to make a direct input or to select it from the
drawing with appropriate button.
Note:
These elements are related to longitudinal sections, and for some of them it is possible to see the
data in the longitudinal section table. For example: it is possible to draw vertical lines, show their
terrain heights, invert elevations, stations and many other data. More about those elements in the
chapter Longitudinal sections.
EDITING
In the process of drawing the system, the program saves all data that is necessary for its work in
the definition of system elements.
Group of commands Editing contains various
commands for editing topology elements and other
Urbano entities in layout and in longitudinal section,
commands for drawing and editing level line in
longitudinal section and commands for label editing
in the layout.
You can use those commands for editing elements
of the current system.
Iti s not reccomended to use AutoCAD commands
for editing elements, because it can cause erorrs.
Edit nodes
Nodes are basic and the most important topology element. Node's definition, same as the section's
definition, has certain data written in it. That data is important for the program to work properly.
That data cannot be changed with AutoCAD commands and that is why it is not allowed to use
AutoCAD commands like "Erase", "Move", "Copy" for editing nodes. You can edit nodes only using
the command "Edit nodes".

Erase
Remove selected nodes inside of the selection set from the current
system in the drawing. To delete nodes some basic topology
issues are relevant and it is not possible to erase nodes if they are
connected to a section.
Move
Insert node
A new node can be placed onto an existing section with this option.
New node is inserted on the existing section and divide that section
into two sections. The new node, and the node in which the section
ended before, is connected with a new section. Based on the
existing data, the program calculates terrain line and level line
elevations in the new node.
Rotate node
Changing node type is an important part of the node editing command. Depending on the system
type of the drawn element, main node can have different meanings. When the system type of the
selected element is 0-Sewage main node can be "Node", "Overflow" or "Divide", and if the system
type is 1-Water the main node can be "Node", "Reservoir", "Pump", etc.
Edit sections
Beside nodes, sections are the most important element of the system topology. The data that is
used as a base for creating topology is written in the definition of a section. The data written in a
section definition are names of the neighboring sections, starting and ending node, belonging to the
branch, array and system, and so on. All this data are written automatically in the process of
drawing the sections. Editing sections with AutoCAD commands "Erase", "Move" and "Copy" is not
recommended, because this command does not affect the data written in sections, and their usage
can cause topology errors.
Methods:

Reconnect nodes
Insert node
A new node can be placed onto an existing section with this option.
New node is inserted on the existing section and divide that section
into two sections. The new node, and the node in which the section
ended before, is connected with a new section. Based on the
existing data, the program calculates terrain line and level line
elevations in the new node.
This method changes the geometry of section from line to arc and
vice versa.
Edit branches
Branches are created of sections and nodes. A branch is usually a part of an array or can be also
the array itself, depending of the network topology. To change the behavior of a branch inside of
the system topology, there are several methods available. All possible changes are always
depending on topology rules.
Methods:
Merge

This method divide a single branch into two branches. The node,
on which the branches are divided will be set to main node

This option enables you to draw level line interactively from node to
node. There are additional options available to check the range of
depth and to set a predefined slope value.
Interactive-2
With this method you can draw the level line elevation using one
depth value according to the specified terrain elevations. There are
additional options available to calculate the slope value.
This option can be used to define the level line between selected
nodes, inside of a station range. Elevations of the selected nodes
(starting and ending station) can be defined.
This option can be used to define the level line by setting starting

INPUT DATA
This group of commands allows you to assign basic data of
the system elements, like terrain elevations, level line
elevations, slopes and pipe diameters. You can assign
some of the data while drawing elements as well (dialog
Draw) terrain elevations from the DTM, level line
elevation on constant depth under the terrain, pipes and
manholes.
Terrain height
This command is used to input terrain elevation of the system elements. You can enter terrain
elevations using several options: single, using method of linear interpolation, using additional
points, using DTM, using slopes or elevation points.
In Urbano it is possible to assign terrain heights up to 10 terrains existing terrain elevations,
designed terrain elevations for solution 1, 2, 3... Because of that it is very important to select
terrain number that the heights will belong to.
Terrain number refers to the Longitudinal section as well it is very important which terrain is
referent.
When you set all parameters, click SAVE and terrain elevations will be saved.
Methods
Single
You can input terrain height for one single node. Select the node,
enter the height or pick the text from the drawing. Afet that click

Additional Points
You can use this option if there are additional points in the drawing.
You can create additional points using command Draw Draw
Additional points.
Terrain elevations in nodes will be calculated by the the linear
interpolation method from the elevation of additional points.
If "Use existing node elevation" option is active, the nodes that
already have terrain elevations will keep their values, and new
values will be calculated only for the nodes that previously didnt
have terrain elevations.
If that option isn't active, all nodes will get new values.
By Slope
It is possible to set terrain elevation only for the first node of the
selection, and set the slope toward the ending node to calculate all
terrain elevations for the nodes between.

Pipes
Pipe diameters are very important for hydraulics calculations. Pipe diameters can be entered for all
sections of the selected area at once or single for every section. Pipes are different in type of
shape and geometry parameters. Therefore the pipe catalogue is used in Urbano 8 to predefine
them. Pipe data are used in network layout and longitudinal section to create additional graphic
information and in hydraulic parts of Urbano 8.
There are 6 typical pipe shapes available. More detailed explanation can be found under the
chapter Pipe catalogue.

Manhole data
Nodes, as basic system elements are represented mostly manholes in a sewer network. Manholes
are different in type of shape and geometry parameters. Therefore the manhole catalogue is used
in Urbano 8 to predefine them. Manhole data are used in network layout and longitudinal section to
create additional graphic information.
There are 8 individual manhole types supported. More detailed explanation can be found under the
chapter Manhole catalogue.
Manhole data can be defined just for each single node from the previously made selection set by
option individually. To switch from node to nodeyou can use arrow buttons. If multiple nodes from
the selection set have to be defined, the option all selected nodes of type is available. In case the
type of node should be specific one, the desired type is possible to select from the list field and only
nodes who comply with this type will be used.
Each definition for the selected element has to be stored manually using the button save
otherwise the values will not be written to the network elements.

Trench data
For the excavation calculations, it is necessary to define the shape and the dimensions of the ditch.
Generally, the program recognizes two shapes of the ditch, single ditch and double ditch, which
mean ditch without or with the widening. In addition it is possible to define both types with a
framework. According to the bed type, ditches can be divided on ditches with sand bed, ditches
with concrete bed and ditches that have natural structure as bed. The definition of trenches is
made in trench catalogue.
More detailed explanation can be found under the chapter Trench catalogue.

Upper layers
Upper layer represents soil layers above the pipe, whose characteristics can be considerably
different from the soil of the pipe bed. That is one of the reasons why the excavation values are
separately specified in different bills of quantities. The definition of upper layers is made in Upper
layers catalogue.
You can find detailed explanation in the chapter Upper layers catalogue.
When you want to set upper layers to certain topology part (branch, array, more sections, ect.) it is
possible to set it from one station to another. One array can have several different types of upper
layers, or only one.
If you want to set only one upper layer type, choose topology (array, branch, whole system.. ) and
click Save.
If you want If you want to set more upper layer types, choose topology first (array, branch, whole

This happens because the relationship between nodes and sections in that sequence has been
changed.
Note:
LS will not become invalid if you move the node, but the relationship of nodes and sections
is not changed (same sections have the same starting and ending nodes).
However, this change will be visible in the longitudinal section and this is very important
characteristic of Urbano softvare dynamic between changes in Layout and Longitudinal
section tables.
If you draw a lot longitudinal sections at once, expand the LS manager dialog using this button
and adjust the order of LS tables:

All existing cross sections inside of the drawing are shown in the left part of the dialog. It is possible
to select, move an delete all available cross sections. It is not reccomended to use CAD commands
for editing.
NOTE:
To define cross sections, use command Cross sections in the Workspace and see the chapter
Cross sections.
Also, you have to set terrain height, pipe invert, pipe diameter and trench data of the
topology elements so the program would have enough information to create cross section.

Cache manager
In all commands where data from database is accessed in some way, the data is not read directly
from the database, but the data is previously copied to cache and read from there. That speeds up
the process because the data is not every time read from the database, but from the cache.
After making certain changes in the database, it is necessary to refresh the data in the cache. That
is done in the dialogue of the "Cache manager" command. In that dialogue, it is also possible to
define the size of the cache.
The size of the cache can be changed by entering new value in the "Cache size (DB rows)" field.
This change applies only to current drawing.

System analysis
This function analizes the system according some other parameters than topology issues it
checks functionality of the systems according to available parameters.
The user can check the system according to certain value or condition. The system topology can
be correct, but still there can be certain problems. For example, there can be places in the system
where pipe depth was lower than minimum, or where downstream pipe diameter was smaller than
the upstream.
This dialog contains several checking options. Select the option on the left side of the dialog. In the
middle of the dialog you can set the values boundary conditions. The picture that shows the point
of this option will appear on the right side of the dialog.
- Toplogy picker
- erase the warnings in longitudinal sections
- zoom to the section in layout, zoom to the longitudinal section
- custom check (the user can define his own check according to some chosen values)
- erase existing custom check
In Urbano it is possible to input slopes for the sections even if there is no terrain and invert
information. This possibility is very useful for preliminary sewage system design. This function will
check whether this slope satisfies minimum and maximum slope conditions set in this function.
Multiple outlet sections
In sewage system there should not be multiple outlet sections because all waste flow from the
sewage network should be canalised either in the purifier or directly to the receptor.
Positive cascades
In gravitational sewage system there should not be positive cascades. The program will find the
error and report it.
Smaller diameters downstream
In sewage system the diameters donwstream should be bigger or the same as upstream. It
shouldnt be smaller.
Custom check
The user can create custom check according any available Urbano data.

Channel projection
If there are two parallel channels of two different systems, it is possible to show both of them in the
same longitudinal section table.
For example, sometimes sewer and storm channels can be set very close to each other, on the
different slopes and depths. This function is very useful to check the differences.
Component Projected longitudinal section contains graphical part of the projected channel, and
you can set the colors of graphical representation of projected channel to be different than the
original channel:
You can add the components of the table, to show the data of the projected channel. You can
simply copy existing component, i.e. Layout data nodes (Name) using Copy button
Page 81 of 141
Since this Layout data-node (Name) was set commponent after the component Projected
longitudinal section, you can set it as projectioncomponent choose 1.
When you do it, this component will become red as well, and it will show data of the projected
channel:
You can add arbitrary number of components and set Projection to 1 to any of them.
0 component of original channel
1 component of projected channel
Note 1:
The channel of the curently active system will be set as original - 0, and the other one (which you
project) will be set as projected 1.
Note 2:
You can save the configuration in your Disk repository the same way as other configurations. You
can take it to any active system as well. When you draw LS of a channel of the currently active
system, that channel will be original; and the other one will be projected.
Note 3:
When you project one channel to another one channel's longitudinal section, those two channels
should be about the same length.
Note 4:
If you have more than two parallel channels, you can add another component Projection, and this
one will have number 2. You can add other components after that as well, and identify it as 2.
Next picture shows the example of the longitudinal section with paper frames:
When you set the frames and you are satisfied, start the next command, Draw frames to layout.
You can create frames for arbitrary numbers of longitudinal sections, with various dimensions of
frames. You can edit longitudinal sections as well all changes will be updated.
When you once define viewports in layout, you can continue to work in model space - any change
you makes will be automatically updated in layouts.
After the rectangles are set, they can be edited using AutoCAD commands "Move" and "Stretch"
because they are drawn as AutoCAD's entity Rectangle.
How to plot?
Once you have created frames and layout, print those frames on the papers of the corresponding
size. Plot from Layout.

PREVIEWS
Drawings contain large amounts of different data (terrain elevations and coordinates for all nodes,
length, pipe type and diameters for all sections, and so on). Preview group of commands are used
for quick and effective reviewing of the data in the drawing.
Configuration of the preview can be created very easily. There are two subgroups available - lines
and nodes. Depending of the current topology system, lines refer either to sections (pipe network)
or polygon sides (polygon topology). Nodes refer to manholes/direction changes for network
systems and to polygon edges for polygon systems.
Each Preview configuration represents a table view thath contains various created, imported or
calculated data. This dialog consists of several parts topology selection, command buttons, list of
defined views, list of defined styles and the table that shows the data data. Size of the dialog on the
screen can be changed. You can do it by selecting the edges of the dialogue, and after the cursor

command
Calculation parameters
All parameters can be excluded from the calculation, except Offset from lateral inlet elevation
[m] and Invert offset from the previous sequence invert [m], because the programm has to
consider the invert of previous array or branch (branch starts in the node where there is lateral
inlet) to calculate invert correcttly.
Additional parameters
It is very important to set referent terrain, the same as in other functions for invert determination.
If you mark the option Favor cascades, the program will try to set the invert by placing cascades
wherever they can fit.
If there are existing invert data in certain pipe of the network (for example, existing old network that
has to be upgraded with new branches) you can choose to not change existing data, or to do it.
If there is no solution (it was not possible to determine invert according to parameter values), you
can choose to leave existing data, or to delete all data.
Selection
It is possible to select whole system at once, or just some topology elements. If there are more
separated channels in the same system, it is necessary to choose exit node.
Calculation
When you set all parameters, click Calculation. The program will calculate invert values, but it will
not write it yet. Click Preview to check the results. If you are not satisfyed, chance some
parameters and click Calculation again.
When Preview results seem ok, click Apply changes and pipe invert will be determined for the
selected elements.
Note:
If you created pipe invert using this function, you can edit it with all available functions for
for drawing or editing invert (level line).
QUERIES
This command is created to ease the search of the drawing and the data that exist in the drawing.
The drawing is searched according to specified criteria. Queries can be combined with data review
to manage the desired list of data for requested system elements. In addition it is possible to apply
a style for the elements which are result of a query. The review window can be transferred as
AutoCAD table inside of the drawing. Available table definitions are shown under the button Table
output.
According to separate
defined reviews the
data
of
requested
elements are shown
A query can contain multiple definitions. To simplify the query definition it is possible to request the
existing values for the selected system data under the field value. The query definition will be
executed if you click the button Run (flash sign).
From the selection fields select operator, data and value, after that use button add
Define the name of the query in the upper left part
Select a defined preview to visualize the values inside of the dialogue in the lower part
Use button execute to run the query definition, results will be shown in case a review is
set
5) Define query definition or changes with button OK
Note:
You can create query and save the configuration. You can drag&drop that configuration to some
other configurations or commands on the Workspac, or on some other dialogs.
For example, if you want to change all pipes with inner diameter smaller than 200mm, you can
drag&drop the adequate query on the dialog for input pipe data. All pipes with nominal diameter
smaller than 200mm will be selected, and you will be able to change their diameter.
THEME MAPPINGS

Thematic mapping of sections changes the color of line that represents section.
Thematic mapping of nodes draws circle around node in appropriate color.
Thematic mapping of polygons shows a colored hatch over each polygon.
Thematic mapping can created in two ways if selected condition (data) is number (e.g. terrain
height).
Selecting option "Specific", each specific value will be colored with one color (e.g. one pipe
diameter one color).
With option "Continuous", it is necessary to define number of limits by which mapping will be done
or size of limits.
They have to be typed in appropriate fields. Beside field "Size" there is data about minimum and
maximum value of selected key.
Colors that represent each value of the key can be set in two ways.
By selecting option "Automatic" program will automatically define certain color for each value of the
data. User can define number of colors that will be used for thematic mapping. When this option is
turned off user can define specific color for each value of the key. Colors can be changed in drop
down list by selecting appropriate color. Drop down list is opened when user selects color for
certain condition in the table.
To map the elements, double-click on the configuration, following dialog will appear:
If you turn on option Set legend position, pick somewhere in the drawing and the legend table will
be drawn.
Thematic mapping can be made for whole system or for one part of the system.
STYLES
Styles are used for nodes and sections to handle a specific layout, i.e. country specific standards or
special layout required for different system types. It is possible especially for sections to define and
apply styles in relation to various system data. With this method it is possible for example to scale
sections according to the defined diameter.
Once styles are defined, they can be used separately by its own function or in combination with
other Urbano commands, i.e. Queries.
The available options depenf of the system type and the selected topology element for which the
style definition should be made.
The value for the max distance is helpful as a search criteria inside of the drawing, for example if
node elevations should be taken from various text elements.
From the context menu with right mouse button select New or Edit
Set the name, select desired data with the data picker
Define mappings to text or block with attributes
Define conversion rule definition or changes with button OK
USER DATA
User data enables the user to define some specific data of the system elements. There are two
methods available to specify user data. Each one is available on separate tab in the dialog.
User data
User data is available inside of the data picker dialogue so you can use it in several functions. User
data can contain some predefined values as well.
Virtual data
Virtual data can be calculated using available system data. Choose system data using data picker.
Selected data will be available in the left side of the dialog. To calculate the values there is a huge
set of mathematic functions available.
You can type mathematical operation in the empty field, or you can choose function using button
Oper./function.
When you click OK, the data will be saved, and the configuration will be available in the
Workspace. You will be able to add those data inside of other configurations, such as Previews,
Labels, longitudinal sections or other. Those data will be stored in specifig groups:
Note:
Virtual data can be used inside other virtual data.
LONG SECTIONS
This group contains commands for drawing the tables of longitudinal sections - terrain lines, pipe
lines, invert lines, manholes, trench bottom, lateral inlets, tables with values etc. The program takes
all the necessary data from the system drawn in the layout.

The main component is Longitudinal section. Here you have to set the most important
parameters scale, referent terrain number, units and frame offset values:
When you create new definition of the longitudinal section table, only basic component will be
created by default.
This component is also called longitudinal section basic, and contains only graphical part of
the longitudinal section.
In this component you can adjust colors of certain graphical entities (terrain lines, invert lines,
pipes, manholes...), include or exclude certain entities from the drawing (intersection pipes, lateral
inlets..),
You have to add the other components by yourself. Use following buttons:

To define rows, it is necessary to add new components using data picker button. If you want to see
node data in the text rubrics (node names or terrain heights), select component Layout data Nodes.
If you want to see node data in the text rubrics (section names or length), select component
Layout data - Sections.
There are a lot of components available, and the best way to create new LS configuration is to
copy one exsiting one (created out of the template) and remove some components you dont need,
add some new ones, edit some you want to edit.
Note:
If you have drawn longitudinal section with certain definition, when you edit that definition remove
some rubrics, change some colors, when you click OK and save the changes, longitudinal section
will be automatically updated.
From the context menu with right mouse button select New or Edit
Set the name, select desired components with the data picker

The content of the longitudinal section tables is automatically created according to the available
information form layout network. All changes from the layout will be recognized automatically inside
of long section tables and vice versa.
Note:
It is possible to draw a lot longitudinal sections at once. To erase or move longitudinal
section tables, use Longitudinal section manager.

example, you want longitudinal section A3, that was drawn with the configuration
1 Sewage 1000/100, to be draw with the new configuration 2-Rain sewage 500/100.
If the profile has magenta frame, it means that is inactive and invalid some data is missing, for
example some node or section from this LS doesn't exist in the drawing anymore:

Warnings
In this dialog yo can only erase warnings. Warnings will be set in the
longitudinal section if you start function System Anlysis. This
function allows you to check your system according certain functional
parameters. If some of the parameters don't satisfy the conditions that you
set, the program will set warnings in longitudinal sections.
For each value inside of the dialogue it is possible to make a direct input or to select it from the
drawing with appropriate button.
All methods will be applied in selected longitudinal section table. The selection of desired long
section table is done inside of the selection list or with the selection button beside the table list.
The elements, which are created with the selected option can be erased with the delete button
beside the selection list.

source
The data from the external source will always be shown inside of the left part of the dialog. In the
right part of the dialog you should select corresponding Urbano data and connect it with the original
data from the data source.
You can select System data with the data picker. All data from the external source that can not be
connected to any available system data can be connected to new user data.
The import of manhole and pipe information can be specified with Import rules.Check the chapter
about Rule import editor. According to those rules the information from the catalogues will be
mapped automatically for specific data about manholes and pipes. According to the selected type
of data source the properties for the source can vary. Especially for database connections it is
possible to define additional queries for the import.
It is possible to Dragn Drop database source file directly onto the dialog. In that case the type of
data source will be set automatically.
Steps to create or modify the import configuration definition for SHP import:

If the data from source and drawing are correspondingl, the content of the linked source will be
available as data inside of the data picker. With this information it is possible to create new
previews, label definitions, or set those data as a base for virtual data definition inside of user data
functions.
Refresh cache
All values from the external source will be taken not immediately if some functions are used.
Instead of this, they will be buffered inside of a cache to speed up the process of handling the data
from the external source. This cache needs to be updated sometimes, for example if some
changes are done inside of the external data source.

Note:
If you select General settings of the active system, you will be able to set certain general
settings that will only affect the current system. The program will read all other settings
from the default GS configuration.
DOCUMENT LINKS
It is possible to link drawing elements (sections, nodes, blocks and texts) with certain external
documents (for example, pictures, short movies, text documents, and so on). Those documents are
not part of the drawing, but links will be saved in the drawing. Using those links, it is possible to
open related documents using Urbano.
Document links will be generated automatically if the name of the file matches with the name of the
Urbano entity data (i.e. section name, custom data, user data..). Save the configuration.
To open linked files, double-click on the saved configuration. All linked files will be shown in the
dialog. Select the element from the drawing (node or section) and the link will be shown. You can

EXCAVATION REPORT
Excavation reports are used to output quantities for defined trenches.
The data is calculated for cross sections in all nodes, but also in additional profiles that are created
in stations where ditch depth is set to the defined excavation zones. That profiles are used for
calculating amounts for excavation more accurately depending on the depth of a ditch.
The following picture will be used to explain the values shown in the reviews.
The value of all volumes are the result of multiplication of the arithmetic mean of certain area
which is the result of the values on the starting and on the ending station, with the distance
between that stations.
For example
V=
P1 + P2
L
2
V= excavation volume
P1=cross section area in station 1
P1= cross section area in station 2
L= distance between stations 1 and 2
Cumulative area is a sum of all values from starting to the current station.

INTERSECTION ANALYSIS
Intersections (clashes) between infrastructure systems are very important part of pipe network
design. When you design pipe network system in urban areas, probably there already exist some
kind of infrastructure existing pipe network, electricity or telecommunication cables, gas pipeline
ect.
When position of the pipe is to be defined, very often designer should consider what is possible
impact on existing utilities. Beside classical clash of utilities, sometimes it is necessary to respect
rules of possible influence of utilities. In that situation it is for example necessary to place sewage
pipe beneath water pipe, gas pipe above sewage pipe and so on.
You can check those intersections in special table view. New table view is dynamic and enables
you to see all intersection of the pipes, to change clash tolerances and so on.
Configuration
To be able to see pipe intersections in the table, it is necessary to create configuration the same
way as all other configurations in Urbano.
Click on Intersection analysis New. Following dialog will appear:
In this dialog you can choose the data bot of the current and intersected system. Therefore, there
are two data pickers available. First data picker refers to Referent system data, which is always
currently active system. Second data picker refers to the Intersection system data.
Using first data picker you can select values of current system, and with the other one values of
intersection system. To be distinguished, data is emphasized by different color (green current
system, orange system which intersects current system).
When you click on data picker there is special item, Crossings between systems. In that group
there is some special data that you can select, i.e. distance between pipes, terrain elevations,
depth or elevation of pipe in intersected point and so on.
For the values of distance between pipes and terrain elevations, it is not important from which data
picker they are selected. Their values are always the same. After first data selection, order of the
data can be rearranged and renamed:
It is very important to set referent terrain and collision tolerance. If you want, you can set collision
alarm text the text that will appear in the table when pipe intersection occurs.
Table view
After you arranged the table the way you like, click OK and the configuration will be saved. To run
the configuration, double-click on it and following table will open:
All systems in the drawing will be shown in the left side of the dialog. You can select one of them,
and intersection data will be shown in the right side of the dialog.
Intersection data will always refer to current system and the one that you selected.
When you select some other system, the data in the right part of the dialog will be related to that
system.
Intersection points with collision smaller than admissible will be marked as red:
You can zoom and mark intersection points, write it as Excel file and label them with the
intersection label.
Note:
To be able to label intersection points, you have to draw them using function Draw Draw
intersection points.
However, you dont have to draw intersection points to be able to see them in this dialog.
