Project: Dwell Codes - Lead GIS (current)
Create new mxd in ArcMap, parse DWP address table for house number, street
direction, street name, street type. Scrub point data in preparation for geocode process
Review parcel data land use codes to better select which single family home, multifam
home or mixed use could be queried. Being familiar with land use codes assisted in
creating queries to select specific data output. Review building footprints, set definition
query for building type only so no courtyards would be tagged with points as courtyards
do not contain building identification numbers
Create feature class from spatial join of building footprints to intersect city parcels to be
used in project. This was done to check building footprint overlaps on multiple parcels.
Create enterprise level SDE database objects such as feature class, feature datasets,
with both coded and range domains on field attributes to assist in monitoring data
integrity, add custom symbology, and add global ids to the file geodatabase to prepare
for publishing a feature service
Publish a feature service to ArcGIS server, adding REST endpoint to Services Directory,
also update tags, summary data and shared information, set editor permissions for
feature service capabilities including sync for offline work
Create webmaps, configured pop-ups and set visible range for the published feature
service classes, tested the webmaps and edit capability in ESRI Collector app on a
tablet
participated in meetings with field crews and Supervisors to create and deliver a training
manual and training workshops on use of Collector app, including how to add a point
using the devices internal GPS
Assist with the field collection, editing and management of the field data
Develop and build data model parameters through analysis of point data using Python,
VBA script and ArcGIS data management tools such as Summary Statistics
Create an ArcGIS online Operations Dashboard using existing webmap URL, configured
pop-ups, added custom widgets
Assisted with analysis through data model statistical results and spreadsheet report
creating
Correct the boundary error through effective communication with all six waste shed
Supervisors via phone and email, including screen shots, drawing in temporary streets
for reference to assist in decision making process
Used street centerline route data for each district to identify location of household routes
as well as the route polygon boundary itself. This was helpful in identifying overlaps of
routes between collection days. Boundary lines were snapped and traced to parcel lines
to ensure coverage for the offset setting of the geocoding process used by Customer
Care Center
Use Editor tool bar for boundary polygon feature class, including Cut Polygons, Trace
and Straight Segment tools, merged and saved features to reflect the boundary update
edits
Provide feedback to Customer Care Center to ensure they were always up to date with
edits made
Create a new geodatabase and feature dataset, create a new topology using rules for
gaps and overlaps, run topology, repair gaps and overlaps, create exceptions where
necessary, save edits then create topology report
Forward updated feature class to BOE for update within the MyLA311 system
Create multiple temporary driving routes in ArcMap using Routesmart extension, in one
district and send out field crews to verify the temporary route for access issues for all city
vehicles involved in Rollout project. Issues reported include; low hanging tree branches,
one way, private, and narrow streets that impede the City Train of vehicles. Also verified
are house number highs and lows and lefts and rights for each street segment, parcels
were identified for missing buildings and new construction
Create a new improved driving route using RouteSmart of approximately 900 house
numbers at a time per route, configured PDAs for the route, installed scanning apps for
recording container serial numbers for dropped containers, created user manuals for
field crew
Create daily reports with estimated amounts of containers, provided daily driving routes
synced to Motorola MC70 PDAs, collected data is offloaded from device into database
Paper map routes were distributed to the district to advise locations of Rollout trucks so
as to not interfere with regular trash truck daily routes
Assisted with training in creating point to point routes with ArcLogistics, used ArcPad for
field data collection, set up Access databases to interface with the proprietary database
of the Customer Call Center
Created user manuals for the drivers and support staff, performed ride-a-long with hands
on training for the drivers
Migrated from PDAs to smart phones using web services, provided training of
RoutePlanner and Collector for ArcGIS
Weekly reports include receiving spreadsheet data from multiple departments for
consolidating data into one power point presentation for distribution to Mayor's office
Project: Produce various cartographic products for other city depts when necessary
Produce various types of maps using tools such as spatial join, buffer and clip
Produce webmaps, letter and legal sized plus plotter sized maps
Add SRSSD GIS title box to all maps, including graphics and map package file locations
