It is with high hopes that I send you this letter as a part of my Law and Business Co-op
Application. I was once a co-op student at Waterloo, an experience I hope to have again, in a setting
more suited to me. I believe that co-op will provide me with the skills I need to both succeed as a
student and progress into a career.
Frankly, I'm terrible at cover letters, and have a tendency to procrastinate on applications, two
skills which I hope the co-op program could assist me with. Other useful skills I could improve upon
include those related to interviews. I have a history of choking on interviews, especially those done
over the phone, or otherwise not face to face.
Even more importantly, the assistance co-op can provide in the areas of job search is
invaluable. The contacts that co-op has could assist me in obtaining a job in a relevant field, giving
me something extremely importance, experience. This experience is valuable twofold. Not only does
work experience assist in the acquisition of future jobs, it also lets me know what kind of work I might
be suited for. Working in a law related field would give me a feel for the business, and let me know
what skills I lack, and where I excel. As I currently have not identified a concrete career path for
myself, this is the kind of experience I need.
